The Initiative is partnering with Crystal Dynamics for the new Perfect Dark game

Recommended Posts

it all makes sense.

Phil announced a fake 1st party studio when his fans were begging for studio acquisitions, solely for damage control purposes. Now that real acquisitions went through Initiative will be swept under the rug.

just like the fake games he announced (Phantom Dust, etc) - these announcements were made solely to save the xbox's reputation. they were never meant to be actually followed through with.

now this project has been pawned off to crystal dynamics...

we've been bamboozled again ladies and gentleman. this is why Phil is "the greatest conman in the biz".

WTF! MS' biggest new first party studio is partnering with a 3rd party studio to make a game.... What is even going on? What a mess. MS have a million studios and can't even have another first party team help out Initiative? I actually can't even think of this ever happening in the past, where it is announced like some co project like this.

it is unprecedented.

maybe Square enix is offloading CD to MS, they've been entwined with that studio since the 100m dollar tomb raider fauXclusivity deal, and CD themselves are coming off a disaster project in Avengers.

MS like the vulture, smelling the decaying stink of a dead studio, is moving in.

You do realize that the Studio Head of The Initiative was the Studio Head of Crystal Dynamics right? No, you probably didn't make it that far...

Also AAA development is never a singular affair, multiple studios are always involved and partnered with for development.

Yeah, typically internally, but everyone knows that Xbox Studios is in such a shit show it's no wonder they went ahead and reached out to a studio who actually knows what the fuck is going on. :tom:

Let's listen to a real industry professional who has managed multi-million dollar productions before

Yep, this is stupid as hell and clearly a sign that the game is in trouble

GHOST STUDIO

Everyone with a brain (so everyone but the lemmings) can see this project is in peril. The problem is Crystal Dynamics can barely make their own games, they don't have the talent to carry another studio.

microsoft outsources with one company and its a bad 1st party ,  but naughty dog as 13 companies outsourced

The Last Of Us Part 2 Workforce Was Huge

According to info compiled by the site, a total of 2,169 developers working on the post-apocalyptic title, which included 13 companies that were outsourced. By comparison, something like Red Dead Redemption 2 had a massive 8,000 credited developers, although this doesn’t mean they were present throughout the entire production cycle.

There's a difference between the major studio outsourcing some of the workload, and this pr disaster from MIcrosoft that basically makes it sound like a more experienced developer is being sent in to pull the game out of development hell.

:mj: Wasn't the Initiative supposed to be MS' new "AAAA" development studio that they claimed would be taking on the likes of Naughty Dog? Why then do they need another AAA studio to come in to hold their hands and help them make games? This is fucking embarrassing.

For the lemming idiots that will come at me and cite ND and other AAA studios using support studios for help, this is a very different scenario. There's a huge difference between outsourcing work to smaller support studios (which are literally designed for that) and needing another entire AAA studio to come in and help you in making your game. We've never seen a situation like this before. Makes you wonder WTF they've been doing over there since the studio was created in 2018. The game is probably in development hell or something. Either way TLHBFR.
