Guess I made the right call. After the barebones and lifeless MP component, coupled with the snippets of campaign gameplay not looking too hot, its clear that a year delay didn't exactly make much of a difference.

The MP score hasn't been finalized yet. Knowing GS they can they probably still bump it up to a 9 even though its clearly not worthy of it.

Played a little over an hour of the campaign.

It looks alright and definitely better than the multiplayer, but boy does performance go to absolute shit when you get into the open world. Im getting constant dips into the 30s and that makes everything feel so sluggish. This performance is absolutely unacceptable on my computer especially when im only running it at 1440p. So many people complain about BF2042's performance but this is actually much worse.

 

Other than the gameplay seems fun for what it is. It feels like Halo but the grappling hook does add some freshness to the gameplay and you can do some cool stuff with it in combat.

You have to download the campaign separately (its about 60gb). At least thats how it is for Gamepass users.
