The longest-lasting, longest-travelling, and fastest record wind speed tornado has been on the ground for 5 hours, and travelled 220 miles. 50-100 Amazon workers trapped in collapsed warehouse

Look how it cut right through the middle of this fairly large Amazon warehouse. Those are Amazon trucks, for scale.

Look at how the loose, small debris has actually been collected in the middle, and the floor is clean to the sides.

Six Amazon workers died. That must have been some cheap-ass constructed warehouse. Probably not much sturdier than a circus tent made out of thin sheet metal.

Shit, Kentucky got hit even worse.

"I'm pretty sure that number (killed in Kentucky) is north of 70 ... it may, in fact exceed 100 before the day is done," Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said late Saturday morning. "The level of devastation is unlike anything I have ever seen."
One of the most devastated sites is the southwestern Kentucky city of Mayfield, where a tornado hit the Mayfield Consumer Products candle factory Friday night while people were working. About 110 people were inside and dozens are feared dead there, Beshear said.
"They rescued 40," Beshear said at a news conference Saturday afternoon. "There's at least 15 feet of metal with cars on top of it, barrels of corrosive chemicals that are there, it will be a miracle if anybody else is found alive in it."

They are estimating that maybe 50 people  died in a fucking candle factory.

How do you have your workers continue working as sirens are going off all over, and how can they not build a simply underground emergency bunker for their employees?

Factory workers threatened with firing if they left before tornado, employees say

At least eight people died in the Mayfield Consumer Products candle factory. Its destruction has become a symbol of the tornado's ruinous power.

MAYFIELD, Ky. — As a catastrophic tornado approached this city Friday, employees of a candle factory — which would later be destroyed — heard the warning sirens and wanted to leave the building. But at least five workers said supervisors warned employees that they would be fired if they left their shifts early.

For hours, as word of the coming storm spread, as many as 15 workers beseeched managers to let them take shelter at their own homes, only to have their requests rebuffed, the workers said.

Fearing for their safety, some left during their shifts regardless of the repercussions.

At least eight people died in the Mayfield Consumer Products factory, which makes scented candles. The facility was leveled, and all that is left is rubble. Photos and videos of its widespread mangled remains have become symbols of the enormous destructive power of Friday’s tornado system.

I hope they get sued into the fucking ground as badly as that tornado did to their factory.

Freeze the company owners' bank accounts.

Sadly Lex Luthor appears to be untouchable but he really is a giant sack of shit. They treat their workers like dirt despite him being one of the richest men in the world and flying into space. He's straight up vermin and it's a real shame the tornado didn't get him.

Amazon is such a penny pinching scum company. They profited so much from the pandemic and with lockdowns around the world people flocked to Amazon more than ever, so what does Bezos do? Decides now its a good time to require a mandatory £5 delivery fee on every item, and now refuses to take credit cards because the transaction fees are too much for one of the worlds richest men. He's comic book levels of being a cheapskate.

Things are going to be interesting in the next decade or two when Amazon gets a strong foothold in global logistics and have the fate of other companies' supply chains.

Brutally genius how he made the absolutely perfect chess-move to build his own transport fleet. Even more amazing that Amazon delivery fleet didn't really exist 3-4 years ago.

One of these days, they're pretty much going to say "Okay, we now pick up packages and deliver them anywhere within the US." Like flipping a switch

So the money they make from offering those services is going to pay for their costs to deliver their products to customers. That entire business will pay for itself before the end of the decade.

I think their goals are a bit more large scale, since they are floating above the US supply chain mess that is currently happening. but, I can see this being offered to small businesses. Of course in time with post offices down trending customer shipping could prove profitable.
