You making fun of it won't make me not spend $3000 on a QD OLED version of it rather than buying the few MINI-LED 32" 4k 144hz monitors that are coming out in 2022 which will likely all cost less. (Although I'll likely get both 😎 )

So while I was talking about my better PC with my better GPU

I wasn't talking about that though. Not once did I debate your PC vs Mine. I knew yours was better 2 years ago, and I was glad people here were able to get 3090s and 6900xts.

God of War is best..........on MY pc

The argument wasn't whether God of War is better on your PC or mine.

It was about God of War being best on PC, and not Playstation. Which you just acknowledged in the last sentence I just quoted. 😉

So the only way to play God of War better on my PS5...............is on my top of the line PC that almost nobody else has.

Damn, another epic thread backfire from @ghostz    How many Ls can one man take?

I have a 4k display. I like higher FPS and 21:9.

I love how I was making fun of your lesser PC by you continuing to move the discussion over to more and more monitor displays.

And you respond with...........moving the discussion over to monitor displays again:drake:

I've never heard of a car engine getting better and faster by giving a car a new exterior paint job............have you? LOL

Except it is.

And what Digital Foundry is saying is with hardware that you don't have.

It'd be like reading Digital Foundry says that X game is best on PS5..........and then you see a PS4 owner boasting about that.

Yeah, really laughable that I own a 3080 TUF OC. Really low bar stuff.

Anyway, I never argued your PC vs Mine. I just argued God of War is best on PC. Which it objectively is.

:drake:uh huh.

God of War is best on MY PC. Enjoy the game at 1440p. Buy the best possible 1440 rows of pixels that you can possibly get!

God of War on PC is a simply sensational port

What's improved over console and how to get the best optimised experience.

Step 1. Have MY PC:lawl:

Welp, looks like you're gonna need help to achieve that.

God of War is best on PC.

In general, if you have an RTX GPU, you should use DLSS. Even a base-level RTX 2060 can effectively deliver a 4K60 experience with DLSS performance mode, which looks significantly better than the checkerboarded experience on PS4 Pro. If you can't use DLSS, consider the game's internal resolution scaler - it uses temporal reconstruction, which AMD FSR (also supported on any GPU) does not. Check out both options to see which you prefer. DLSS is my pick for RTX users, but there are some very minor visual issues, such as jitter on snow deformation. Rarer still are some ghosting issues on high contrast foliage. By and large, the quality and performance wins here easily outweigh the occasional artefacts.

In summary, the PC port of God of War is spectacularly good, with meaningful graphical options that scale the game beyond the original PlayStation experience. GPU performance is generally good, but I would like to see improvement on the CPU side - particularly on background streaming and on AMD's DX11 driver. My fingers are crossed that these issues can be improved via patches. Ultimately, the port is fantastic but the fact is that Sony's first-party magic still shines through, despite the fact that God of War launched on PS4 almost four years ago. Back in February 2021, we revisited the game on PlayStation 5 - essentially the PS4 Pro game running unlocked - and years on, it was still an absolutely brilliant experience. It still is, and today, the enhancements are even more pronounced on PC. I highly recommend checking it out.

there's really nothing that's going to change this, except somehow jumping into the future.

God of War is best on PC.

  • meus work good with m&k and controller
  • DX11, no shader compilation waits, or compilation stutter as seen in DX12/Vulkan games
  • no Field of View option, possibly due to a lot of off camera tricks
  • nvidia reflex to reduce latency, avg 11ms less vs ps5
  • proper PS5 controller support
  • faster loading, ~4s faster over PS5
  • possibly limited by ssd and framerate
  • PS4P/PS5 (will call this PS5 from here on out) uses checkerboarding to achieve 4K
  • constant camera sway and particles cause artifacts in checkerboarding
  • high res and DLSS fixes this issue
  • DLSS has better resolved than native at times
  • DLSS Performance 4K (1080p internal) is better than PS5
  • PS5 quality is called "Original"
  • Shadows are the most obvious improvement, way less blobby at higher than original
  • cascade range of shadows on ps5 is very short, on ultra, can cause a big difference in visuals in some scenes
  • Geo Quality next most obvious improvement, less pop in
  • high AO adds bounced lighting, similar to SSGI
  • volume fog and screen space reflections is situational, increases resolution above original
  • PS5 looks softer than Original due to checkerboard rendering
  • Optimized Settings (Ryzen 3600/RTX 2060 at 1080p)
  • high shadows
  • Ultra+ is very performance hungry, use high
  • high geo
  • original is good, high if you'd like
  • high AO
  • textures - depends on your vram, higher settings offer little improvement
  • Original for 6GB
  • anything higher for 8GB
  • Ultra anisotrophic filtering
  • low end hardware (Ryzen 3600/GTX 1060/RX580)
  • very close to 60fps on a 1060
  • base PS4 can't hold a stable 30 in the same areas
  • 580 is very variable, can be close or very far below the 1060
  • 1080p/30 for 580 until fixes come
  • mid range (2060 Super/5700, 1440p)
  • 2060S 17% faster
  • 5700 can hit below 60fps, frametime stutters, also on the 580
  • cpu performance (Ryzen 3600/Core i9 10900K/RTX 3090, 540p)
  • internal cap at 160fps
  • 3600 is between 100-120fps in combat, can drop to close to 60fps in very short spikes
  • 10900K hits the cap most of the time, drops to 60fps in even less spikes
  • level loading causes gpu usage drops (still over 60fps), worse on lower end cpus than 10900K
  • at max settings, 4K DLSS Quality on 10900k/3090, loading areas can dip below 60fps
  • turn down shadows for better cpu performance
  • resolution
  • has render scaling
  • use DLSS if you have and RTX card
  • 2060 at Original settings, 4K DLSS Performance hits 60fps nearly ooall the time
  • DLSS has artifacts with small elements like snow grains and far away foliage

There's really no way for you to get out of this one.

Not only that, its quite funny...........you're trying to troll playstation owners by repeating "Best on PC"

While you are getting absolutely livid by correcting you EVEN FURTHER when I say "best on MY PC" over yours.

Like as if you are incapable of noticing your massive irony.:reg:Don't worry..........I'll notice.

This is an improvement.

Just not one that makes God of War best on your PC over mines, that's all.

Try to improve that 1440p as much as you can, champ!

And no, its best on MY PC, and there's really nothing you can do about that.

Wait, so are we back to talking about a single users display preference after I showed a video of a 3080 running this at 4K Ultra  70-98 fps? Better visuals and 20-50%+ more FPS than the PS5 version......

God of War, best on PC™

And no, its best on MY PC,

So we agree God of War is best on PC.  So what's the debate again?

LOL, having less pixels is now a "preference":drake:

Having less pixels.........from my perspective..........fits with the narrative I established since my very first post.

I made fun of "lesser"

And it falls perfectly in line with just that. Lesser.

That is nice. Those poor guys didn't have anything to play. So of course they'd be starving for a 4 year-old port.

Good for them, I say.
