Ghostz got fucking CLAPPED ITT

There are franchises that are simply too big to take off other platforms and the financial loss of doing so would heavily outweigh the benefits of an exclusive. COD is definitely in the Minecraft terr

This is intentionally vague. He’s saying he’s keeping COD on PlayStation, as in the existing games. They won’t be removing games.

but they also won’t be making any new ones. :tom:

I was thinking about the Sony marketing agreement they had with Call of Duty.

If it basically ensures that a version of each Call of Duty being released must be on Playstation for as long as that contractual agreement exists.

No, that's not it.

Sony has no "existing agreements" with Bethesda games, yet old Bethesda games continue to be sold on Playstation.

An "existing agreement" is something that is currently active today, into the future.

So in other words, they have agreements for Activision games on Playstation platforms that goes into the future.

Most obvious is the CoD marketing agreement.

And as soon as those contracts are up, which could be as early as 2023… well :reg:

You hope they end by 2023.

But Sony's marketing agreement with Call of Duty was for the entire length of the PS4 console generation, and we clearly see them continue the marketing agreement for Call of Duty on PS5, so its likely they renewed it for the length of the PS5 console generation.

Guess we’ll find out soon enough :hsmoke:

That's how I interpreted that too.

Then how come Bethesda and id Software games are currently on the Playstation store?

There's no "existing agreement" between those two companies?

There are franchises that are simply too big to take off other platforms and the financial loss of doing so would heavily outweigh the benefits of an exclusive. COD is definitely in the Minecraft territory. The loss of income with taking it off PS would be massive. Can MS do it? Of course but they have already seen that there is a market to sell the game on other platforms and also have it on GP.

Either way very interesting future and no doubt MS has Sony by the balls on this.

Yes there was. Deathloop is an example

No...........you're looking at something else I didn't ask.

I'm talking about Skyrim. Wolfenstein, Wolfenstein New Collosus, Doom Eternal.

Those are "previous games".

Sony has no "existing agreement"

So why are those still on the Playstation store?

because MS wants them to, just like existing cod games and any game future game covered under Sonys “contract”.

once said contract is over, it’s either time for Sony to have gamepass or no new cod.

No. There is nothing about there that indicates anything like that.

You're pulling things out of your ass, with absolutely zero evidence.

Old games are not "under contract"

Where did you get that idea?
