Switch's USB C video out

This is actually quite handy. My RV has a USB powered monitor with USB C video in. The Switch just plugs in with a C to C cable and it thinks it's docked.

You're able to get vid out of the USB C port on the switch without a dock?

Are you connecting a dongle first?

Is it really 'docked' though? You're probably still playing with the same limitations that happen in handheld mode, but on a larger display.

Yes. It's 1080p

interesting. I imagine the battery life takes a noticeable hit though.

Edit: unless it gets juice from the monitor’s own power source.

It is powered and charged by the monitor as long as the monitor is using a powerful enough usb power adapter.

I thought the video out from through the  USB C was not a direct to C output but to HDMI (the protocol)... Did that change with an update or something?
