New European country to be faced with soaring energy bills: Italy!

Recommended Posts

Here comes a new challenger!

One in six Italians, or up to nine million people, could sink into energy poverty due to soaring bills across the EU, Italy’s ANSA news agency reported on Saturday, citing the Italian General Confederation of Crafts.

Households are considered to be in energy poverty if they cannot afford to regularly heat their homes in winter or use air conditioning in summer, and are forced to stop using high-energy household appliances, or severely limit their use.

Southern regions of the country are reportedly the worst-hit. In Campania, between 519,000 and 779,000 households are using electricity or gas on an irregular basis. In Sicily the figure is between 481,000 and 722,000, and in Calabria there are 287,000 such households.

Earlier this week, local media reported that Italy’s Ecological Transition Minister Roberto Cingolani planned to ask the entire population to turn the heating down, starting from October. Italy has already introduced some limits on the use of central heating in public buildings and apartment blocks, and these are expected to be tightened under the new measures.

On Friday, Italy’s Serie A football league announced plans to put a four-hour limit on the use of floodlights in stadiums on match days, as part of energy-saving measures. The new rule is expected to cut floodlight electricity consumption by about 25%.

yeah, its called the Ukrainian-Russian war, and they've just about shut off the gas that goes to Europe.

pick up a newspaper sometime.

What the fuck is this shit? Oh you already knew about the energy crisis in Europe. Wow, impressive display of knowledge on current events, dumbass.

Now can I talk about the events that are currently unfolding by posting articles and videos that are literally just a day or two old without you acting like a asshole?

You should get ready for a lot more news about this shit coming out of Europe because this is just the start, so get used it, you fucking clown.

Protests in Sicily have broken out two days ago but we won't talk about it, Jerry can read the newspaper. Fuck off.

lol pretending that this is some new scandal, when we already knew and had talked about it.

Europe is just going to have to pay more this winter because of this war. That's all there is to it.

Maybe try blaming the party responsible for the war happening in the first place.

Its not my fault that you're late and acting like as if you've discovered something to lecture us about.

I'm pretending the energy crisis in Europe is new by specifically saying that Italy is the newest addition to be hit hard by increased energy bills in Europe? Amazing reading comprehension there, Jerry.

Huh, why do I need to blame Putin itt specifically? I wasn't trying to stir the conversation that way.

Also, I'm not sure where you got the idea that I was lecturing anyone by posting news without even saying my opinion about it. Lol, this charade is quite the waste of time. Go read your newspaper.

you didn't want to stir the conversation........................to the core reason of WHY its happening?

You do understand that the basic things a human being does to understand something is that they ask themselves "Who, What, When, Where..........and Why?"

Right?

Everybody else in Europe has known about this incoming problem, and been making preparations for it.

I honestly dont know what to make of the OP. Like it's a serious topic but that YouTube hack's video has some stupid whimsical music or whatever like it's impossible burger memes and not a potential national disaster. Then there's your weird 'Here comes a new challenger'...you guys just make everything so fucking weird for no reason.

if only the EU had took Trump’s warnings seriously, then they wouldn’t be in this situation.

Maybe because the first major cause couldn't be more obvious and doesn't have to be said out loud?

what warnings?

Trump is praising Russia right now in his campaign speeches.

Don't ever claim that you're not really a Trump fanboy, ever again. Just look at what you just posted.

Love how the left jumped on this moment to spread their disinformation about how only a fraction of Germany's energy comes from Russia:

Yet utility bills are through the roof, and they're already talking about energy rationing. Germany even cancelled their yearly oktoberfest to save energy.

No, the problem isn't Germany having to pay Russia.

Germany is supposed to be paying Ukraine for that natural gas, not Russia.

Russia invaded Crimea for that natural gas.

Trump is babbling complete stupidity, he's not making any real point.

He's trying to connect two things as if Germany is being hypocritical.  They're not.

Do you think Russia became some sort of POWERHOUSE threat......................because of them capturing Natural Gas that Europe needs?

No, they captured Crimea because they absolutely needed to, to survive.

As you can clearly see, Russia is not a powerhouse in any meaningful way.

They invaded Georgia before they invaded Crimea, and 15 years later Europe was still giving Putin billions for their energy. Now everybody is paying the price because Europe's democrat leaders had no morals and continued to give a imperialistic dictator billions for cheap energy. Everybody with any sense now realizes that was Europe's biggest foreign policy failure of the last few decades.

No, they're paying the price because it was cheaper than them making the decision to switch over to green energy policies that no European politician wanted to stick their neck out to propose an entirely new infrastructure and have their countries start investing money in.

I love how you keep on describing it as "giving Putin billions". Like as if its a huge hypocrisy.

Its a Russian gas company. No matter if Putin is there, or somebody else controls the country in the future, Europe is dealing with a energy company from Russia.

No, it isn't a foreign policy failure............no more than the United States relying on Saudi Arabian oil.

Are you basically saying we funded islamic terrorist in a completely ridiculous indirect way?

Because that's the logic you're establishing for Europe => Putin.

Lol? Russia is the powerhouse. Also the no 1 exporter of oil.

As of 2013, Russia is the world's second-largest producer of natural gas, producing an estimated more than 669 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas a year, and the world's largest natural gas exporter,

that's crimea, Einstein.

"as of 2013".............that's when they invaded Crimea.

:tom:they ain't gonna have Crimea soon.

Do you now understand why Germany and most of Europe is OKAY with SHORT-TERM SUFFERING????????????

Because they help Ukraine.

Ukraine overtakes Crimea.

Europe and their new buddy Ukraine now have control of the natural gas reserves.

What you are complaining about is SHORT-TERM suffering that has LONG-TERM benefits for Europe.

Obviously you're complaining and making a big deal about it now, because you may not have the opportunity to complain about it in the future.

There's actually more gas in the donbas region. Thats likely part of the reason why Ukrainian forces are currently blitzing towards Luhansk.

You speak like Ukraine taking back Crimea is a guarantee, or the reasoning for western allies support, or the ultimate goal. None are true.

Also, no one is okay with not being able to heat their home during winter and missing out on basic first world necessities.

And I'd sure love not to have to talk about this because the crisis is adverted. You think I take pleasure in this or something?

Don't worry about it.

You're too stupid to read the news as to why these energy prices are going up....there's no point in listening to your analysis about any other geopolitical affairs.
