As much as I want to mention an Xbox game I have to give it to Duke Nukem. Some of those games were OK but overhypedz some were mediocre, Duke Nukem Forever was bad...like really bad. 10 years of delays, an almost mythical aura surrounding it, and we ended up with an absolute pile of

Duke got killed by Gearbox Software. Let's not forget this. Absolute garbage indeed.

 

I mean how do you mess up so bad? Duke 3D is still a great game. Even the old tech demo before Gearbox bought the IP looked cooler.

Like DOOM 2016 was very different from the original but that was a good game in its own rights. DNF was just pathetic.

Gearbox bought the IP in September 2010 and the game came out in June 2011. That game being trash had little to do with Gearbox.

Duke Nukem, Shenmue 3, and those type of games were just eagerly awaited based on time and nothing else tbh. By the time their release year came no one actually thought they were going to be great. I don't really classify them as flops tbh. 

 

Spore is actually a great one. The hype on that was next level and it was as basic a game as you could imagine for the concept they sold.

I'm not aware of the production and how it went.

 

But it was 100% their decision to release the pos as it stands. Little to do with Gearbox my ass. If they bought a terrible game from a bankrupted dev, reworked it and by 'reworked', I mean 'rushed' it to the market to make some easy money off the fans of said IP then yeah, they are entirely responsible for this flop.

Shenmue 3 is the worst game I have played in my entire life; this is not a hyperbole. The game existence is an insult. I was a fan of the first two and by what I said alone it deserves to be in every goddamn worst/biggest flop/most disgusting piece of trash list forever.  

 

The game borders on being a scam. It's hardly even a game. More like some modern-day CIA interrogation torture device. I was praying God to make it stop and I don't even believe there's a God, not after Shenmue 3 anyway. There is no God.  

 

Fuck Shenmue 3.

BC Rearmed and Rearmed 2 but he produced BC Dread Dude too. And yeah the Infanu era with his "Go West" strategy was a disaster.  When he almost bankrupted the company I thought MS would probably buy them and immediately run them into the ground as usual.

I was torn between Spore and Cyberpunk but went with Cyberpunk. Spore eventually won people over despite not meeting the expectations the hype train generated. Cyberpunk on the hand is still flopping, it never stopped.

That said, OG Xbox had a STRING of amazing flops back in the day. Sudeki, Blinx, Fable, Jade Empire. There were a couple others I'm forgetiting,
