I dont think the offerings justify a new console purchase at the moment. I waited all the way til Gears 4 to get into the 8th gen and it looks like i'll be waiting a while to get into the 9th. XBox is the same, but at least it has Gamepass, which makes the games way better once you realize you didn’t waste $70 to play them. Switch owns pretty hard, though. At least Sony had some PS5 Only games at the start of the gen that were cool and they should be getting their killer app soon with Spiderman 2 and FF16 later this year. GamePass isn't a reason to invest in a Shitbox and there's a reason why MS sales have fallen off a cliff despite GP deals and why PS5's sales continue to grow exponentially with time. Casual 726 Posted March 20, 2023 Share Posted March 20, 2023 (edited) symptom of the industry more than anything. everything has become homogenized. things are cross gen because consoles are basically PCs at this point. it's no different than devs targeting multiple tiers of specs on a PC exclusive, you're targeting a bigger demographic. this isn't gonna change, ever. next gen will be the exact same. consoles aren't some unique platform anymore like they were in the GC/PS2/Xbox gens and prior. buying a console is no different than buying a new video card. you're still getting a way better experience playing on a ps5 vs. a ps4, similar to playing on a 3080 vs a 980.
