I mean….do you have a genuine connection with this person that offsets you trashing a friendship? Do you have mutual friends with the dude who’s ex-wife you would be giving the D? Is it going to cost you several friendships? The 5 years makes a big difference, obviously you want to avoid getting with your friends ex’s unless there were mitigating factors, like them being totally unsuited couple whilst you having a genuine connection that could work as a long term relationship which would be worth the loss of friendship.
