I'm not averse to paying full price for this game. I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it regardless of the review scores. What I was meaning is that I'll likely get some Steam wallet codes from the family or whatever, so I was just going to wait until after all that. The characters I think are even better than the original cast which is a big surprise for me, I really didn't think I'd like them after having played the demo but I'm really enjoying the story and cutscenes. Even more so than DQXI but then again, the characters are given way more importance, they're deeper, story reveals are well setup, and the characters actually goes through arcs, changes and grow as people. Something DQXI totally lacked but that's the approach that series has always taken, so it's hard to blame them. Valkyria is more melodramatic, but it's not cringe stuff like in FFXV. 2018 was a great year for JRPGs for sure. DQ back on consoles and a proper sequel to VC1. I couldn't ask for much more.
