Nah Square games of late always been on the easy side which is why I hate they never have a hard mode. XV was a cakewalk and kingdom hearts 3 was a joke. I had to use an accessory that stops me from leveling up less than halfway through the game because there was no challenge at all

I won't be playing anything for months or close to a year probably, stuck in bumfuck nowhere Montenegro in the middle of endless mountains, imagine Rocky IV's training location without the snow (yet)

I finally finished Aegis Rim     I want my fucking 40 hours back. I can't believe how absolutely SHIT that ending was. I couldn't be more disappointed right now.   I was

The amount of shit going on in Control during fights is next level compared to anything else ive seen.   I also started playing Witcher 3 again. Damn this game is fucking awesome. It still l

FF7R does according to the trophies list. I guess Im going straight to hard difficulty. (FFXV was a total cake walk for simpletons btw).

Yeah but I think that just unlocks after you beat it once like previous square games. Hard is never available from the start which is stupid. Unless it’s an action game, I don’t replay games on a harder difficulty

Ah shit. Hopefully its available from the get go.

Yeah me too, I make some exceptions here and there but usually its the DMC or Bayonetta type game I find worth replaying on higher difficulty levels.

JRPGs are about the story and overall adventure. I don't know why yall want them to be dark souls.

Meh I disagree. Most jrpg stories are crap. I play them for their gameplay. Lots of jrpgs have incredible gameplay. If you only play Tales or Dragon quest i can see why someone would not have much expectations for the gameplay of jrpgs

Gameplay is also important, I dont want all of them to be Dark Souls but I dont want them to be so easy that I dont even have to pay attention and still come on top.

KH3 and FFXV were a lot less enjoyable to me due to the fact the combat encounters were borderline inconsequential. I could have done those games with my eyes closed. Its fucking boring and tedious.

Its not the most important thing but Id rather have a fair bit of challenge than none at all.

Yeah because not only is the increased challenge more fun, they’re also very different on harder difficulties. Enemies and bosses have different attacks, smarter ai. Feels like playing a new game

Plus post game progression. You rarely have a fully upgraded Dante or Bayo at the end of your first playthrough, so you still feel as you're progressing. Plus different enemies placements, etc.

I hate getting stuck on a hard boss and replaying it multiple times when I just want to see the next story beat, set piece, environment, etc. Maybe im not as 'hardcore' as you guys are but as I get older I realize I have less patience for difficult games. Though even as a kid I remember getting pretty annoyed with some of the earlier FF games.

I never finished it. What I like and imo saves Dragon quest is it’s more difficult than your average jrpg.

kingdom hearts 3 though was a train wreck. I literally stopped using those finishers because of how long they were and how many times I would see them over and over in combat. I can’t remember a gane where I had to limit myself and my abilities just to get some form of challenge

We clearly play games for different reasons. It’s not really about being hardcore, I just like to be challenged and that’s where I derive my enjoyment. If not I’d rather just be watching a movie.

But then i also grew up playing arcade style nes games where they’re only an hour long, but they’re intentionally made difficult to get your moneys worth

Square games have always been easy. The answer to the problem was never play better or use a different strategy, it was always "Oh, I guess I'm underleveled so time to grind for a bit". This was especially true in the older games where you would have to grind for an hour before you started the next dungeon.

Chapter 12 in FFVII R :lawd: :mjcry:

Damn this game is a visual spectacle, what a beast of a game Square-Enix are kings B)

Most battles aren't super challenging and most of these status effects seem rather useless to use when the fights run so quickly but I'm still having lots of fun. My IQ is probably just too high for these games tbh :bate:

Chapter 12 truly is amazing.

Anyone who thinks this isn't a better retelling of the story so far up to that point is high AF on nostalgia.

that's me lol. i actually beat deadly towers (one of the hardest games ever - mainly because of its broken design), and all 3 ninja gaidens for the nes when i was a kid. i loved hard titles back then. now, aside from challenging puzzles, i like my games easy or semi-difficult.

if it makes you feel better, hard mode is unlocked after you beat the game.
