I’m 25-26 hours in, I think I’m right before the final boss battle but there’s still a bunch of side quests I feel compelled to finish beforehand.

Why? They're all really bad lol. By the time I got to the last chapter I skipped every one of them. They pad out the game in a way that's just a detriment to the overall product.

Lol yeah most of them are repetitive and not that interesting, but i’ve come this far so might as well.

 

But it’s going to feel great when I do finish, because then I’ll be able to go balls deep into greedfall

bro I said it before I have no clue what warhammer is all I ever saw was some 3rd person warhammer mmo and it looked awful.

 

I didn't even know characters exist in this universe   voice actors all have the same kind of energy, this video convinced me to try these games. he said he's 50% actor and 50% adventurer and you could see, hear and feel it. 

 

Notice how he used his hands while screaming into the mic like a warrior? Like that character would? jesus. voice actor always surprise me. 

 

The character sees death as another gateway he said and he's a warrior. I believe him that guy looks and sounds so passionate about what he's doing. 

 

Voice acting is crazy. I wouldn't play so much dota without it or recent example for sp is Divinity: Original Sin. The voice acting is incredible.

I enjoyed Borderlands 2 for the atmosphere, aesthetics, and the insane enemies and their wild dialogue. I couldn't be bothered to repeatedly do the same mission for a chance at rare loot.

 

Also, based on the fact that I picked up Borderlands 2 in 2015, I should be due to get Borderlands 3 some time around Q3 2022. See you then @madmaltese.

Finally finished Astral Chain after nearly 28 hours. Its a cool game but it does wear out its welcome. The dystopian/cyberpunk world and atmosphere were definitely the highlight. I enjoyed exploring the little HUB areas and completing the side quests for the first 15-20 hours, but then they start reusing the HUBs and you really start to notice the repetition in the sidequests and Astral Plane segments.

 

The environments can be pretty intricately designed with lots of chests hidden off the beaten path, but another one of my problems is that most of the time they don't contain anything interesting and aren't worth seeking out. Usually you'll get temporary field item (items that expire at the end of the mission) which amount to useless healing items about 90% of the time. I was excited when I opened the in-game locker and saw all of the different equipment options, but those just amount to a couple of cosmetics like hats. So even though theres a bunch of opportunities to explore off the beaten path you don't feel rewarded for doing so.

 

Combat was good and the story is fun anime nonsense. Not much else to say. I would give it a 8 overall.

The only side quests I do are the ones that I think will lead to a gate.

PC version has issues that are somewhat fixable.  Console performance is garbage apparently.  Probably why they only allowed PC reviews of the game lmao.

Lol damn . Honestly I dont think graphically it looks much better than BL2 . Surprised if runs so shit everywhere.

So I just finished Gears 5.

 

First off, it visually it's incredible.  However, it's quality is uneven if I'm honest.  Act 3 didn't look that visually impressive to me and I didn't really care for the whole aesthetic of that area.  The other acts all look ace though... but as typical with all games, there's always areas which don't seem to get the same amount of love as others.  The cutscenes however, are insane and it's unbelievable seeing them running at 4K+ completely maxed out in HDR.  Can't knock this games hustle.  

 

As for the gameplay, it's typical.  It plays it safe again and doesn't really change up the feel of any of the games systems.  For Gears 6, I'd love to see them ditch the roadie run and make movement more agile.  Change the cover mechanic and so on.  I appreciated that they didn't shoehorn any hoard moments into the main campaign.. which was nice... but I would have liked some new gameplay ideas.  Gameplay is polished, but now it really needs to be changed up.

Honestly, I don't really even understand what the story of this game accomplished.  It's like nothing happened, except a character dies.  We're not really any closer to understanding Kait and her mothers shit... and despite alluding to something that happened with JD, they don't ever touch on it at all..  Del, despite being a character that I like and feel COULD be something better... he's just nothing more than a support role for Kait.  So in the end I killed Del.  I thought the whole cutscene leading up to the choice was just extremely abrupt.. she was there in an instant and had them all restrained within 10 seconds.. and it just seemed forced just for the sake of having that "choice moment"..

 

The other thing that I didn't really care for, was that Marcus really didn't play much of a role in this one.  At least not as much as I wanted him to.  I actually like Kait, JD, and Del.. I think as far as characters go in this series, they are just as good as any others besides Marcus of course.  So I don't know which ending is canon.. but that's one character gone that I felt could have come into their own in the next game.

 

So yea, I just don't understand what purpose this story served.  It feels like you're always waiting for the next one to hit a major story beat.  Here they introduced some things, but never really went into any detail.  Mind you I should say that I honestly didn't read many of the documents and shit found in the game lol..  I hope they aren't relying on that to tell their story because nobody wants to read that shit in a Gears game.  You need to tell the story up front.

 

So yea, overall I'd give it an 8/10.  It's better than Gears 4.. but there's just oversights in a couple key areas which keep it from being incredible.

Runs fine on Pro so I assume it would be even better on X. Has Performance and Resolution modes too for whatever is your preference 

The gunplay is vastly improved over past Borderlands. Just feels a lot better. The rest is more of the same but bigger and more polished. 

Won't make any new fans but current fans get everything they could want.
