Yuzu fucked up.. because apparently they were distributing roms on their discord.. and having fully functional emulated games out a week BEFORE they even officially release draws more ire from a notoriously litigious company like Nintendo.. who could simply drown them in debt. They had support fixes in place specifically for Tears of the Kingdom, and paywalled them behind patreon before the game even launched.
That specifically shows they were targeting the patreon supporters with TOTK emulation/piracy.
So yea, that's what fucked them.
Nintendo's case was never about the legality of Emulating games that you actually purchased.
Their case was against Yuzu for their actions.
And Nintendo clearly did have a case hence the quick resolution and subsequent shutdown of yuzu.
