Exactly the way I feel.
Gamepass is great for people who play a game for an hour and never go back to it

No there isn't. That setting only controls the length of time you have to do time based actions.
That's what I said
Maybe the game is telling you that you're too dumb

I've already talked plenty about how bad the NPCs literally telling you every solution within 0.2 seconds is. That is definitely a major problem.
The simple puzzle design in the main quest didn't bother me too much though because that's not really what I'm playing GoW for and also because I felt more challenging puzzles (still fairly easy) and combat for that matter are present in the side content. Also NPCs don't talk nearly as much in those if at all. I feel the game gives you as much as you want really, they just focused on making the main quest very accessible (which I guess you sort of have to when it's your most mainstream franchise atm). They make up for that by having as much side content as the main quest for more hardcore players that want more and also did an amazing job of having the quality of that side content be great too.
But again it depends what you're looking for in a game. Like what I want from a GoW game is an excellent narrative + character development, cinematic gameplay and an evolution of what made the last one great and that's exactly what I got. The combat or puzzles not being peak combat or puzzle gameplay isn't as big an issue as say average combat would be in a Souls game or simple puzzles in a puzzle game. But again, there is some amazing combat in the side content, do the Berserker fitghts or dragon fights and so on and I find the combat excellent. It's only a bit of a downer when you're trying to get to the next story beat and you're being slowed down by regular enemies waves.
END GAME SPOILERS
Yeah the little epilogue was a little awkward with Kratos but tbh the epic scale of everything that just came before was such a clear climax and peak for the game that I wasn't looking for another moment after. It's more or less what I expected since I knew there was a big post game content drop coming. But like what I said in my first post, I feel this game is better overall but without reaching some highs. The Loki and mural ending of the last game was much cooler than this one.
For every little minor gripe that you mention though I think it is so heavily overshadowed by major major superb moments. Like that last part was just fine but the Odin, Thor stuff prior was fucking epic. The entire destruction of Asgard as you ascend was so fucking cool. Before that, the Tyr reveal and killing of Brok was excellent and the impact on Sindri even better. Those scenes were just so so so good. The game has such a big cast this time around and they somehow nailed all of the characters imo.
I think I just find the minor stuff less annoying as I feel it is far overshadowed by how good 95% of the game is imo and most importantly it nails the specific things I want a GoW game to nail.
You guys do realise there is a setting to turn down hints right?

Stray is a joke.
Vampire Survivors or Neon White should be in that spot.
Strat was fun but it's not a GOTY caliber game

Finished it
Not sure which is my GOTY between those and Elden Ring
Elden Ring has the stronger first half, Ragnarok the stronger second half
Elden Ring better exploration, but I always appreciate how Ragnarok builds puzzle progression into the exploration.
ER has more copy and paste content and some areas feel weaker than others. Both feel pretty equal in terms of overall content given. There are entire hidden areas within Ragnarok that don't show up until late or post game
Felt like Ragnarok was the more challenging game that required me to learn all the mechanics (second hardest level), whereas ER I could just grind my levels to victory
Equal in world building but Ragnarok takes story
Elden Ring didn't have any moments as weak as Ironwood
Still have a lot of side quests left
Ending spoilers:
SpoilerGenuinely got tearful at the ending. Taken as a 2 game saga, the character work they've done with Kratos and Atreus is unrivalled
I think it was the perfect ending for Atreus and let's the future continue to focus on Kratos
The side character work was phenomenal, particularly Brok and Sindri but also Freya's arc.
Villains were fantastic, Thor as the alcoholic daddy's boy worked so well and Odin as the master manipulator. The twist with Tyr was genuinely phenomenal
Interested to see where the series goes because it felt like a good place to end the series.

The VRR doesn't really work for PS since it drops under 48fps a lot of the time, especially late game areas... So Xbox does win this one... like DF said ages ago.
Regardless of that, the PC version is the best now... so who gives a shit.
Game sells the most on PC and Playstation, Xbox is an afterthought.
The median frame rate is 57 FPS. Drops below 48 FPS are rare and would affect both systems as VRR only compensates for refresh issues with frame drops. Xbox still drops the most frames, lowest resolution, longest loading

Why would I quote DF? They are bottom of the barrel in tech analysis

Resolution, frame rate, loading all worst on Xbox. "Best in xbox"

Take it up with digital foundry, they said the best way to play is on Xbox.
Why would I take the word of guys literally taking sponsorship money from MS? They are literally recommending the worst version cause Xbox has nothing else
FPS
"In a nutshell, the Xbox Series X has the same performance options and parameters as the PS5. But Sony’s console tends to be faster overall, with a 10 fps lead when exploring the Lands Between on foot, compared to the big black box from Microsoft"
https://www.tomsguide.com/features/elden-ring-on-ps5-vs-xbox-series-x-vs-pc-which-is-best
LOADING
Finally, we have loading, which is another area where the PlayStation 5 wins out – but this time by the largest amount, being almost three times faster from a load to the same point of the main menu: 6.3 seconds versus 17.8 seconds on Series X
https://www.ign.com/articles/elden-ring-ps5-vs-xbox-series-x-s-performance-review
RESOLUTION
PlayStation 5 and Series X appear to have an identical resolution target: looking skywards we see 3840x2160 and then in action a low of 2688x1512 on both, however the PS5 is often higher than the Series X, with some scenes being at that lower 1512p on Series X and 1620p on PS5. That means we see a 12-15% gain to the PlayStation 5 in certain sections
If you have the choice then PS5 is the best all round option in all modes and game areas
https://www.ign.com/articles/elden-ring-ps5-vs-xbox-series-x-s-performance-review
AND PS has VRR now too. You'd be an idiot to buy the worst version on Xbox, and an even bigger idiot to walk around acting like you have the best version when your version performs worse in every category

All the reviews say people loved the story. I don’t care much about that. Just want fun gameplay. I like open world design that botw created but most videos seem like they’re in small, closed off environments? Are there any like, big landscapes?
Yeah but it's not open world. It's closer to Arkham Asylum where you have hub and you can choose to go on side stuff or continue the main path
The hub also changes over time so it's got that touch of metroidvania
