  1. Basically a bunch of nothing from both sides. We need developer documentation leaks. Even the Navi AMD reveal this month will offer more info.
  2. You're expecting a serious MS reveal? I'm not so sure you're going to get much info about next gen outside of what's mostly been leaked about 2 models. No box, price, specs etc.
  3. Cerny could just be blowing smoke up our ass, and at best we might get that Crytek vega56 level RT. Too many questions here.
  4. The rumour for XBox was probably bullshit but Lockhart being 4tflops while still having a nvme SSD makes sense if the marketing is no load times for these systems.
  5. The Dual shock 5 will be interesting to see what VR features they are going to shove in that. Asking to buy specialised controllers as a must would be a mistake.
  6. Ray tracing will just be a marketing gimmick for the cross gen stuff like TLOU2 and Death Stranding
  7. Jason Schreier ✔ @jasonschreier Wow, Sony undercuts Microsoft with the first details on PS5, not coming in 2019 (who could've guessed...). I heard at GDC that one of the big PS5 marketing beats would be "no loading times" which Cerny confirms here.
  8. 14 teraflops though is kinda... Insane. Would make next gen crazy if true. Also 24 gigs when I expected 16-20.
  9. If they aren't even cheaping out on an SSD for a hybrid, it suggests they sure as fuck aren't cheaping out on cooling. I think we are going to be very impressed since Sony is in the best position to take a lose for obvious reasons. But I would currently expect 500 and be pleasantly surprised if lower.
  10. BC was pretty much guaranteed. The SSD was a big question, and it really makes the price a question. Insiders seem to think 399 actually that would be another 8 gigs of GDDR5 PS4 moment if true.

  12. Playing PS4 games with 15 times faster loading times. Bloodborne!
  13. There’s also the speed with which a world can be rendered, and thus the speed with which a character can move through that world. Cerny runs a similar two-console demonstration, this time with the camera moving up one of Midtown’s avenues. On the original PS4, the camera moves at about the speed Spidey hits while web-slinging. “No matter how powered up you get as Spider-Man, you can never go any faster than this,” Cerny says, “because that's simply how fast we can get the data off the hard drive.” On the next-gen console, the camera speeds uptown like it’s mounted to a fighter jet. 14. "Sony recently accelerated its deployment of devkits so that game creators will have the time they need to adjust to its capabilities" March maybe then? Also means fully documentation leaks are coming.
  15. This part is amazing. Starting in the fall of 2015, when Cerny first began talking to developers about what they’d want from the next generation, he heard it time and time again: I know it’s impossible, but can we have an SSD? When Spidey reappears in a totally different spot in Manhattan, 15 seconds have elapsed. Then Cerny does the same thing on a next-gen devkit connected to a different TV. (The devkit, an early “low-speed” version, is concealed in a big silver tower, with no visible componentry.) What took 15 seconds now takes less than one: 0.8 seconds, to be exact.
  16. For Remij's rat tracing hard on. Ray tracing’s immediate benefits are largely visual. Because it mimics the way light bounces from object to object in a scene, reflective surfaces and refractions through glass or liquid can be rendered much more accurately, even in real-time, leading to heightened realism. According to Cerny, the applications go beyond graphic implications. “If you wanted to run tests to see if the player can hear certain audio sources or if the enemies can hear the players’ footsteps, ray tracing is useful for that,” he says. “It's all the same thing as taking a r
  17. Sony mentioning physical media support suggests that MS is going digital only next gen.
  18. PlayStation Next-Generation plans (2020, Wired Exclusive Article) Sony sanctioned article. https://www.resetera.com/threads/playstation-next-generation-plans-2020-wired-exclusive-article.111777/ The AMD chip also includes a custom unit for 3D audio that Cerny thinks will redefine what sound can do in a videogame. PlayStation’s next-generation console ticks all those boxes, starting with an AMD chip at the heart of the device. (Warning: some alphabet soup follows.) The CPU is based on the third generation of AMD’s Ryzen line and cont
  19. - CPU: 7nm Zen 2, 8 cores - GPU: custom Navi, including raytracing support - SSD + custom interfacing to massively increase bandwith (Spiderman freetravel demo: 15 seconds to 0.8 seconds) - PS4 Backwards compatibility (other platforms not confirmed) - Physical media - PSVR '1' compatible - on-chip 3D audio support https://www.resetera.com/threads/playstation-next-generation-plans-2020-wired-exclusive-article.111777/
  20. Report: Apple is spending $500M+ to secure games for Apple Arcade, games will be permitted to release on PC/consoles after a few months of exclusivity
