Digital Foundry - Ark Survival Evolved on Switch
Playstation Tablet replied to Playstation Tablet's topic in System Wars
In what sense? Technically. No it can't. Can you get a better visual result with a game designed with Switch's limited hardware? Yes. -

What you're talking about is visual results, not the tech side. Pro is weaker than X but it has no game that looks better. That doesn't mean these games arent technically inferiour. -

There a PC emulators that can run BOTW at 4K 60fps. Like I said specs and tech are objective. What you thinks looks good has no objective technical merit. Same PCs struggle with Ark because Zelda is a low spec game. -

Your personal preference for visuals has no effect effect on the technical side. -

No it can't. Because anything is can do, even if looking good will work within a specific set of specs and what is possible. How good a game looks =/= specs. Horizon, Uncharted and God of War look good but they are running on a fairly modest hardware spec. There are games that look worse and are more demanding, it's down to design. Specs and hardware usage are objective as a measurement. Percived visual results are not. -

Switch has 1/3 the GPU grunt of the base XBox and 1/7 the memory bandwidth of the base PS4. I'm not sure what magical fairytale optimization can overcome that. -

RDR1 is a good looking game. Now put RDR2 on 360 and it will turn into a Switch level abomination. You have a very hard time understanding hardware requirements it seems. -

You just showed me a game that could run on the 360. What's your point. -

What does this have to do with tech or specs? PS360 had great looking open world games, yet it doesn't change the fact what technical requirements are. Zelda looks good on Wii U which is basically PS360 hardware. Doesn't mean it can run a modern speccee gamem -

There is no magical optimisation for weak hardware. RDR2 would look somewhat like this on Switch. -

The Ryzen variant next-gen apparently will support https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVX-512 "It's an instruction set extension to AVX, to work on super wide vector computation. Vector computation is form of parallel computation where you can execute the same operation simultaneously on a lot of data. Say you want to multiply a bunch of numbers by the same factor, say multiply by 2. Instead of doing the multiplications one by one, you line them all side-by-side and do it all at once. As long as your pipeline exploits this behavior, vector computation can be much, much faster than con

Also got a cheap power adapter, so when moving between cities if I choose to carry my Switch all I need is the Switch itself and the Pro controller, and the games.
