Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Digital Foundry Analysis
Playstation Tablet replied to DynamiteCop's topic in System Wars
60fps Mode is fail, but that was expected due to the CPU. I don't see how ress mode isn't delivering. -

Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Digital Foundry Analysis

We're looking a 3x pixel count increase over base PS4. Don't see an issue, and in high ress mode the Pro performance is more stable than base. I think it's a good improvement for a console thats only $100 more than base. -
12:17 I will be SO pissed if Cory gets his own studio to make a fucking SUPERMAN game. One of the lamest Superheros next to Aquaman

I remember playing the reboot and thinking yeah, this isn't really a Tomb Raider game but if they cut down on the puzzles a bit it could be an amazing Rambo game. I'm serious. -

The shimmering comparison they do when doing the comparison between the new and old one is crazy. -

It still find it crazy that an open world game with towns, FFXV is the only big budget game that does global illumination. Not even linear shit does. -

It's a signifcant tech improvement over the 2016 game, then again it has a $100 million budget, so it would be laughable if it wasn't. -

I wonder what the bottleneck is for X, memory bandwidth or GPU power. If it's memory bandwidth we're probably getting something like 320gbps-> 450gbps upgrade for next gen. That's a bit scary if Navi doesn't support bandwidth optimzations. -

Has a game of yours ever had "disc" rot?
Playstation Tablet replied to Playstation Tablet's topic in System Wars
"The loss of data due to oxidation of a microscopic point in the reflective layer on a cheaply manufactured disc is probably far less common than data loss due to mishandling or physical damage to the disc. In other words, it’s a known (but extremely rare and unlikely) risk factor, and it doesn’t even come close to the real-world risk of kids handling the discs." -

I just read Blu Ray unlike CDs and DVDs have an inorganic layer that the date is written to, so it's theory disc rot should be impossible. I have no idea what these people are doing with their Blu Rays. And that has been improved further with newer Blu Ray.s -

Also framerate resolution tests. XB1S: 900pPS4: 1080pXB1X: 1080p/58fps average (performance) or 2016p native/30fps with occasional dips/tearing (resolution)PS4 Pro: 1080p/52fps average (performance) or 1872p checkerboard/30fps (resolution) Yes the XBox version is 2016p, not 2160p. 1872p for Pro. Weird ass resolutions. Also the 60fps is just a target its not stable at all in performance mode.
