Bloodborne is 100% a new IP. It's entirely new and takes place in a different universe. It utilizes many of the same design elements... but it's a distinctive property different from Souls, and is literally published by different companies compared to the Souls games. Demon's Souls is it's own IP Dark Souls is it's own IP Bloodborne is it's own IP Sekiro is it's own IP Elden Ring is it's own IP Souls games could be considered a genre...a style of game, to which Bloodborne is a part of... but it's a different property altogether.

Ok watched a bit of it and John actually does address the patch which adds the ghosting.

Haven't watched yet, but will update with some points after I do. We all pretty much know the issues by now.. and it's important to know that this was made before the recent update came out which supposedly causes separate issues.

Seems they tried to fix the issue of the 50hz PAL versions of the games on 60hz displays, but it introduced a ghosting artifact which is just simply unacceptable, as it appears in those screenshots anyway.

I haven't ever had a smart phone for more than 2 years. I went from an S10+ to a S22 Ultra, and I don't see burn in ever being an issue for me. I'm not on my phone 24/7 though and admittedly I don't ever have my screen blasting full brightness, nor just sitting on a still image for any large amount of time. I'm sure OLEDs will be good for at least 4 years... which is long enough for me to want to upgrade any portable device I'd have.

You're right, but that's why I said currently. They need the help of the community to make it a reality, and they're doing just that. The library of games is unprecedented, and admittedly the device is built on coding black magic fuckery.. so it needs work to get there. Regardless, the amount of features and improvements already made to the device since its launch is more than Switch has received in its entire existence. It's attractive to anyone who's interested in a handheld, which also will then know that if they buy a PC, all those games go with them. Currently, yes, that's the main market.. because they're still working on testing and supporting all those titles.. but it wont remain that way forever.

That's an issue definitely. We'll have to see as time goes on how the Switch fares. It will probably last long enough, or be unnoticeable enough until the point where you're ready to upgrade anyway. What the Steam Deck, and potential future iterations can improve on is allowing for easier screen replacements. Make a future OLED Deck with an respectively easy to replace screen, and you reduce any real impact that would have. I'm sure modders will be modding their Decks with OLED replacement screens as well.

Well, in a few hours I will be able to see for myself. I disagree that zero games being made specifically for Deck will limit it's marketability... Steam is the ultimate marketing platform for games. Valve still needs to do work, but when it gets there... being able to have essentially your entire Steam library with you anywhere.. is extremely attractive to anyone interested in the portable market.

No it doesn't. Any of your color accuracy shit gets thrown out the window... it just doesn't translate into a meaningful real world difference. You can look at Switch and Deck comparisons and see it... Of course the OLED Switch is better, but again, I understand that they're trying to save money wherever possible. OLED Switch also probably came at a point where Valve already had decided on everything and committed, so they weren't really able to react to it. And the Deck IS mass market priced... at the lowest end... Valve is very purposefu

It's essentially the same as the OG Switch, and it gives them an upgrade path between major Deck iterations. It sucks, but it's understandable. OLED would have been nice, but they're understandably trying to keep the price closer to that mass market adoption level. Lets not forget competing hardware in this space is selling for over 2x that amount.. around $1400.

We'll they've apparently done their investigation and are indeed bringing it to Switch. It's still not clear if it will be coming right at the same time as the other versions (could potentially be a bit delayed) but at least it's confirmed. Good news for Switch fans.

I would assume most of that new IP will be the live service games. Not that that takes anything away from the point. Sony is rightly, and smartly, diversifying their lineup. They were sorely lacking MP driven service games, and they look to be addressing that.

I'm interested in seeing what they could do with a GT film. I think Horizon could make a cool series as well, if done right, with the right cast.
