They're taking it slow because they're developing a new type of game they never have before...... big deal. ..and LOL we have Jerky here talking about their credibility as developers because the driver avatars in an open world racing game aren't top of the line character models..   15. They have multiple render pipelines and yea, you're not getting this kind of visuals out of their gaming pipeline. The engine has a long way to go before it matches Unreal in games.

  17. It's a good thing, and a bad thing, IMO. It's good that they'll be able to streamline a lot of their workflows... and many of their developers are already very well familiar with Unreal Engine... but it's bad that another one of the industry's bigger developer studios is dropping their own proprietary engine technology... which is extremely good in its own right. The industry needs some variation and engines which target different things. Anyway, a Witcher game in Unreal Engine 5 will be pretty amazing.. and CDPR are very competent on the tech side.. so it'll be pretty
  18. Running in real-time on a RTX 3090 at "4K" (1440p DLSS) at around 30-40fps. That's absolutely insane. There's only tiny things that prevent it from crossing the uncanny valley... but god damn are they ever getting close. I think relatively shortly, another generation or so, and AI neural networks will cross us over that valley.

All that data is literally already in memory... There's not a single racing game with a replay mode that you can't instantly cycle through multiple cars... that's not impressive at all.. Well, not to anyone who actually plays racing games and already knows that..
