I had GTA2 for Dreamcast too. Was a pretty good port... some slowdowns IIRC but still fun.

The only sprites in the game are the cars and characters, and there's not much of them at all. I think the main issue with GTA 1 and 2 is the music liscencing? I honestly can't remember, but there's got to be some reason why it hasn't been done already.. either by themselves or by another studio like you said. They were on Steam at one time, but they've been delisted for ages now. I missed out, and some people have had luck finding Steam Keys for them on reseller sites, but those are long gone now too. I dunno.. but I assume that while developing it they have been testing it with Windows 10... probably gathering a baseline as to how games should be expected to run, and benchmarking and improving SteamOS and Proton against that.

Started FF2 Pixel Remaster earlier today. I played an English translation rom ages back, so I knew what I was getting into for the most part. I'm having a good time working through it. The leveling system is really different, and despite it's issues, I'm enjoying it because of that. It's very interesting playing both FF1 PR and FF2 PR consecutively and considering how FF2 built upon and improved on the first game. I've already done this with Dragon Warrior 1-4 on the NES.. and I'm enjoying doing it again with these Pixel remasters. The story and characters are far more involved than FF1,
