It's not an afterthought... lmfao... It's just simply not the ONLY thought. MS has bigger ambitions. Sony's gameplay is release a lot of consoles. MS' gameplan is release a lot of games bring people into your services no matter which MS platform you play on.. Cmon man.. you don't make a console like the Series X..... as an afterthought... that's just stupid.

I know he did... but at the time given the compression tech (and that means kraken itself) there was no reason to think that was possible. 10GB/s with Kraken really was the limit.. which is why they said ~9GB/s. Cerny alluded to stuff that compresses "particularly well" but Kraken itself doesn't compress THAT well. But of course, Cerny knew about Oodle Texture... and given how well it allows textures to be compressed, yeah it's accurate... as far as textures go.

That would be dumb. These are games that are going to sell by far the largest amount on Sony consoles regardless... paying for exclusivity isn't really going to do anything but piss off owners of other platforms for really no reason. It's also stupid on the MS side too with games like The Medium. If it's not going to be a complete exclusive.. then just make it multiplat day 1. Let everyone play.

Not a bad idea. Simplifies things a bit... especially when they start adding more devices and entry points. Right now it's Xbox and PC, but there'll be mobile and TVs that come with Xbox/Gamepass apps too.

No... with the information known back then it wasn't technically capable of 22GB/s.... it was capable of ~10GB/s. I stand by what I said. Cerny that sneaky bastard knew that Oodle had some new compression tech in the pipe... but only alluded to it... and this only affects textures.. which are most of the game data but not all of it. ~25-30% can't be compressed that much.
