144hz is basically the standard now. I think there's JUST enough of a difference between it and 240hz that it would serve both markets well enough. Surely there's other improvements and things they could be focusing their efforts on instead of just higher refresh rates. 144-240 is also a reasonable performance target to hit in many games when playing games competitively. 144hz serves the general consumer very well already, and 240 serves the competitive very well. It's a 1080p monitor.. and games like CS:GO and others already run at 500fps or so. Esports players don't run games on anything but like low and medium settings if they have the opportunity, so 200-300fps is normal.
