  1. A lot of people did. People were confused if it was another "One" upgrade, or the next console. It wasn't until they saw the "Holiday 2020" that they understood that it really was the next system. It basically has the same design language as the Xbox One S and X consoles.. so it's easy to confuse it at first as being another console in that family. I do like the idea of the console just being called Xbox.. and "Series _____" denoting the tier of the consoles they plan to release. But they presented it awkwardly... and it didn't quite land right. Phil should have came out and s
  2. I don't even mind the name, anything can sound normal after long enough.. but yea... nobody can say they expected MS to call it "Xbox Series X" after just releasing Xbox One X ~2 years ago..lol. It really could be a Wii / WiiU level of confusing mess.. I wonder how they're going to package future games? Will a single retail release work on all supported devices, or will there be separate versions for each?
  3. Chrono Trigger Super Mario RPG Final Fantasy 6 (3) The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Donkey Kong Country 1 + 2 + 3 Secret of Mana Killer Instinct Breath of Fire 1 + 2 Castlevania 4 Actraiser Megaman X Then as you said: Super Mario World Yoshi's Island 2 Super Metroid The Genesis did have some amazing games though, and I appreciate it more now than I did back then. But SNES won that war, imo.
  4. Yeah. It really is a waste to shade a lot of what's on the screen at full precision all the time.
  5. Yeah. Nvidia and AMD's implementations will be different by virtue of their architectures being so different. Sony and MS will each vary based on their API's. I don't think there will be any problems.
  6. Nvidia has a patent too, and so does AMD. They all will. Nothing about this will cause any legal trouble.
  7. lmao you're going to get them.. relax. Saying that he'd like Control at 60fps with RT isn't unrealistic... There will be games next gen that look and perform far better with RT than Control does even on high end PCs. Nvidia's current GPUs aren't even close to being fully utilized.. so it's not a realistic metric atm. There's so many features of Turing that will only start being used with games developed for them from the ground up. It's gonna get a lot better, very quickly.
  8. Certain devs will always prioritize graphics over performance... because they are dedicated to raising the bar. Sony's devs largely fall into this category. MS though, will definitely target 60fps with most of their games... or at least give the option. You can already see this shift happening. So it's understandable that Jon is looking forward to more 60fps games. Phil's said that it's a point that they are working on sooo it's understandable to expect it. I think pretty much all multi player games will be 60fps, plus a lot more titles people aren't expecting. I d
  9. 1440p is possible. The DLSS implementation in that game was VERY good. To the point where I wouldn't even consider playing the game without it if I have the option.. RT or not. It's essentially free performance. I could see Control on PS5/XSX utilizing improved RT effects which perform better, as well as VRS and other new techniques to improve performance over the PC version.
  10. There will be a good combination of both.. but definitely more 60fps games than this past gen even.. that's for sure. The CPU power is there now.. Many will have the option I'm sure.
  11. Oh shit.. you were referring to Disco Elysium? lmao I didn't realize that. Game is awesome. Visuals are good too imo.. I like the style. But I can appreciate that it's not for everyone.
  12. They're definitely going in that direction. I can see even the visual bar-raising games having the option for 60fps+ with paired back visuals. They seem to be all about that now.
  13. Nah. It's a game that's kind of a mix of VLR and Danganronpa iirc. Essentially a VN with detective puzzle solving gameplay elements. I gotta get around to buying that sometime. Heard good things pretty much everywhere.
  14. I think Godfall looked pretty good. The little cutscene they showed was definitely a step above the current gen consoles.
  15. I bet a lot of the One X enhanced titles will already be ready to take advantage of Series X. Probably coded to either run as fast as they can, or hit the FPS cap and hit as high of resolution as they can at that cap. This isn't even console war BS... but MS really does have the upper hand here. They've already done a lot of the work that will go into ensuring that their platforms are BC for the foreseeable future. Sony could run into problems if they keep doing this butterfly/deactivating CUs shit to maintain BC. It could really limit them going forward.
  16. PS5 Pro isn't an issue. PS5 games will be coded to take advantage of PS5 Pro improvements from the get-go I bet. The issue is ensuring PS4 game compatibility when running on PS5. Games which weren't coded specifically for that hardware. They're essentially trying to mimick the hardware by being able to turn off half the CUs and running it at a frequency which mimicks the state the PS4. Games that are patched would again be able to take full advantage of the system (I woudn't be surprised if some PS4 Pro patches already accounted for this)
  17. Yea.. I've been wanting one for forever. I think it'll happen eventually. There ARE escape room games out there... but nothing with the level of quality of a VLR or 999. There was a Danganronpa VR tech demo on PS4.. so it's possible that a future game could happen. VR would be the perfect medium for it.
  18. Most likely. It all depends on what they're planning on doing with their BC. If they do the butterfly shit again, then 36CU would fit the bill. CU counts are locked in already and as far as we know, there's nothing else that could possibly pertain to PS5.. so it makes sense. But like I said.. to many "insiders" are way too confident that PS5 is over 10TF.. so that tells me that it's not a 36CU part. Unless of course the RT solution provides additional compute power to the GPU and it performs like a "10+TF" part. Could be 36CU+RT solution = 10+TF. It's
  19. Of course. They're just doing it for clicks. Those aren't the final specs.
  20. There's a high chance that it is a 36CU part... but I'm still skeptical. They would need to hit 2Ghz to reach just over 9TF. There was talk about the box being downclocked because thermals were an issue.. but I definitely can't see them being lower than 9TF.. Too many people are too confident that it's over 10TFs... so that tells me that they're going wider... because they are NOT going over 2Ghz.. lmao. No fucking way. 2Ghz is already too high imo. On the surface though, it all makes sense. It could be a 36CU part @2Ghz for 9.2TF.. and it could be a big noisy bitch of a thin
  21. Well, I'll get to experience just how bad it is first hand lol
  22. You just reminded me about this game. There's a demo for it up on Steam.. gonna download it and give it a shot. I'll let you know what I think.
