  1. While I don't think anything about this in particular is going to drastically change the upcoming console generation... people need to stop saying stupid shit like that. Sony has nothing to worry about MY ASS. They can fuck up just like anyone else.. and there's going to be more uncertainty in the coming gen than there ever was this previous gen. Google, Amazon, Apple all putting their hands in the pot. It might be streaming shit now, and arcade shit... but then maybe they announce a console... and big budget games... and start poaching talent away like crazy... PS2 Sony had no
  2. PS4 is more successful than they would have been if MS hadn't fucked up. That's not the same as saying PS4 is ONLY successful because MS fucked up....
  3. They patented A WAY of doing it. Sony will have something similar, I'm sure.
  4. Nah.. let's not start that shit. All platforms will utilize them. AI and machine learning will be used in every facet of game design. From creating textures to models, to optimizing code and physics. This shit is going to be built and fully integrated into the tools that developers will use to make games.
  5. It's going to be fucking cool to see how this stuff is used next gen. It's not only using the cloud to stream in data.. but also how AI and machine learning will transform the development of games. This game/sim features THE ENTIRE WORLD in this fidelity. Presumably for a Forza Horizon game, they could use the cloud to build an exact replica of a city and surrounding area, then use AI to build 3d meshes of everything, and then go in and hand tune and tweak things to their liking. Not to mention when connected they could have high amounts of server controlle
  6. Or we could just let the other thread exist? It's not like it was some low effort throwaway post. Is the forum moving too fast or something?
  7. They just recently had some people go and take the sim out for a spin and basically went over a lot of the technical side to the game. Things like all the physics they are doing, all the visuals and how it's utilizing Azure and Bing satellite data with AI to build 3d models for the terrain. First, some points... this thing accurately simulates everything. Wind pressures, how it affects every inch of the planes, differing pressures flying over hills and atmospheric pressures.. all that shit. Wind current and drafts.. as well as obviously all the data for the planes and how they a

  9. To be fair, the 2016 E3 was probably their best in ages. The God of War Orchestra was
  10. Yes, but it's quite easy in comparison to translate Vulkan to DX12 and vice versa. What I meant with my post was that since they are targeting multiplatforms, including consoles, PC, mobile, and likely Stadia... Vulkan makes the most sense. It's the closest equivalent to Playstations API, and is the API that Stadia uses, PC, and mobile both support it as well. It just makes sense. They'll still have to do work obviously.. but it's less work than it otherwise would be.
  11. Someone in that resetera thread brought up the talks about Sony and MS working together using Azure for their cloud services and that did seem odd at the time. Maybe Jim Ryan and Shawn had completely different ideas and planned on taking Playstation in a different direction and since then or even before then things have been going on at Sony which seemed odd. Then there's also the fact that it really has been weird that apparently a lot of Sony games were canned recently, and that Sony essentially hasn't had anything new to show for years now. We've been riding on the same announ
  12. Sounds like there might have been an internal power struggle Damn... you'd hate to see Playstation fall apart at the seams going into a new generation by not having a clear vision for the future that everyone can get behind... especially after the success this generation.
  13. lmao.. But yea, Tretton went out on top too. Wonder what he's going to do next and who's going to take over?
  14. Yep. Considering they will still be making games for Playstation, Vulkan is the appropriate API to target all platforms, which they said they intend to do.
  15. Yea me too. While it's very unlikely that they'll really improve anything, just seeing it in native 4K and or 60+fps will be glorious.
  16. Uh.. That's not quite how it works.. nor what he means. What he means is that their game is so specifically coded to work within the confines of the exact PS4 hardware that it makes it challenging to just bring things straight over. Unlike MS which has basically been working on making Xbox and PC as similar to code for as possible and creating tools to work across both platforms. They're absolutely using Vulkan though because it's the closest parallel to what PS4 and PS5 will use. Vulkan is supported across ALL devices at this point.. so they'll be able to create th
