They built an entire new engine for the game and series going forward. They were quite transparent about that fact... and why it would take longer. What's wrong with the 30fps X1X version? Seems alright to me. And it's possible to make the game run well enough on PC. Turn a couple settings down a notch and performance improves drastically with little visual difference.

I'm honestly not too worried when it comes to this game. I have a feeling that the game has been close to being finished for a while now. I actually think that it could have released this year, but that they purposefully delayed it for the Scarlett launch. Right now they are likely working mostly on that version and improving it in various ways... putting in that sexy Ray Tracing support and the like

Weird that AF on X1X looks worse than PS4 Pro. I thought it was a forced 16x system wide? Anyway, that'll likely be fixed with a patch.

I haven't played it yet first hand, but I think it looks damn good. I like clean art styles like this.

Oh, I'm not saying the game doesn't have performance issues and that it shouldn't be running better than it currently is across all platforms... but imo, the game is extremely sharp looking. I really love the style, and I also can see ways in which this game is using advanced effects far greater than the previous one. That said... again, this is another one of those games where "Ultra" needlessly (or perhaps it's bugged) taxes your system with almost no perceptible visual improvement. Apparently, you can lower a few settings which aren't really even noticeable and gain another 20

Oh yea It's quite obvious you guys see "cell shaded art styles" as technically less demanding than others... The more 'arty' it looks.. the less demanding it should be... which is just ignorance. Just about every aspect of the game has been improved a lot. Models have much higher poly counts, better animations.. there's more enemies on screen at any given time, the world is bigger.. the world has more interactive physics, effects have been improved.. lighting and shadowing is far better. It all adds up...

So I just finished Gears 5. First off, it visually it's incredible. However, it's quality is uneven if I'm honest. Act 3 didn't look that visually impressive to me and I didn't really care for the whole aesthetic of that area. The other acts all look ace though... but as typical with all games, there's always areas which don't seem to get the same amount of love as others.
