tthis movie should have had politics on it's side to boost the score. they made peach a girl boss and kidnapped luigi instead :tom:

They suspect Chris Pratt's a crypto Christian fascist. No really. They coerced him to do a struggle session and deny he's religious. He's just spiritual you see.

you just illustrated its not even hard for a mediocre to bad film (especially an animated film) to get a decent critics score.

now imagine how bad the super mario movie must be to get the score that it did.

Please keep fighting on this hill. Wait until I get around to films like Blade Runner, The Shining, and The Thing.

Metroid or Zelda would have made a much more interesting movie

I don't think they would. The characters and plots are arguably even more cliche. One's an Alien's riff (Ripley in power armor) and the other is a Moorcock riff (the Eternal Champion but without a personality).

Then again I think the Last of Us is cliche as hell and that public likes that series.

Yes the original Japanese script wasn't so dumb, it's the localization so it was never supposed to be what it turned out. It wasn't intentional.

I'm surprised because you like a lot of campy 80s stuff. Like the Frank Stallone thread. But I can see not liking it in horror.

  5. I have an alternate prediction.

Horsepower will matter less and less because fewer and fewer publishers will be able to capitalize on that horsepower due to production costs. We're already seeing that become a significant issue. It will then reach a point where it doesn't make sense to even make high-end systems. At that point it will come down to IPs and hardware gimmicks. MS will keep buying up big studios, Nintendo will keep up it's culture of software excellence and hit-and-miss hardware gimmicks, and Sony, having nothing left to offer except similar but slightly less soulless games than Ubi, will then die.

Death, sugarhigh. The cold grave. No one will come to save Sony. In the coming night, in the dark.

Ever played Romancing SaGa? It's quite similar.

I only played it on SNES but it was a very quirky JRPG. It doesn't take itself too seriously. Was kind of breath of fresh air for the time, I guess.

I haven't played Romancing Saga but I watched a lot of clips for Live A Live and it looks fun the way it goes from sci-fi to ninja stuff to medieval and it has a sense of humor.

  7. I'm down with a knee injury so I'm finally playing games again.

I started Prime Remastered this afternoon. I haven't played Prime in around twenty years and it's like I played it last month. Everything is so familiar and I only played Prime once or twice. I didn't realize how much of an impression it had made. The problem is that familiarity dulls the atmosphere when you replay the game. But that's just the hazard of having great atmosphere.

Otherwise the game plays pretty fast with the modern shooter controls. I thought it would take some of the character out of the game but it doesn't. I like fast. I really prefer it.
