so it definitely stuck to the source material, moreso than most video game movies.

Thanks for confirming. I think it was obvious that the movie takes place on Earth, and the story has to be changed to accommodate the most obvious change. Other than that, the video game worlds within the Sonic universe clearly appear to exist.

This is far more close to the source material than 90% of all video game movies, which is what I was comparing it to.

You're right this time. I don't think we really disagree.

  2. It was funny, and dare I say pretty cute. It doesn't stick to the "source material" as Jerry claims, it is inspired by the source materal to a degree of authenticity. It felt like sonic, and Sonic had the Sonic attitude. The voice actor sounded like Sonic. It however, is an original work, completely foreign to the sonic universe as seen in the games. If anything the movie was a lot like Joker, which takes the unbelievable universe as batman, and makes it realistic.

Jim Carey was an awesome Dr Eggman, and gave Eggman more life as a character I thought. The scenes with Eggman are the most entertaining, and there were some cool technology scenes in the movie.

The movie really did a great homage to fans, especially their memes.

    8/10 I'd say.

I think the Moe trend that took over anime is the cancer that is responsible for the gender confusion. Kingdom hearts is not anime, but I remember how gay all the male characters acted in those hour long cutscenes. It wasnt possible to tell a lot of the time who was male or female. I am guessing most anime today falls in that category.

Anime is more social conservative than a lot of western shows. Anime about ambiguous gender stuff is probably like 5% of shows, and even then, the reason is most likely a joke. The transgender thing is a western phenomenon, and western trans people idolize Japanese anime because they like to self insert, or they like the porn.  Compare it to western shows like SheZow or Big Mouth, which both explicitly promote transgenderism.

Just read this article if you want to be bamboozled by theory, or confused.

Moe anime is very straight. It emphasizes cuteness and the feminine quality. The irony of trans women being into anime means that they like something that makes their self-image hard to compete with, the moe anime girl. This likely harms trans women, who suffer from painful gender dysphoria. Anime is more of a burden to trans women.

Game was really ahead of its time, a real gem of a classic. I remember going crazy every time the commercial was passing on the TV and I kept begging my parents to get it. I had my 'N64 kid' moment one evening when they handed me a wrapped box  and I knew by the shape and their smiling that it was gonna be the game but I still went crazy when I opened it up and saw that beautiful yellow box :glad:

You described that memory so well that its almost my memory.
