  1. There's nothing wrong with recommending an AIO, period. Though if he doesn't want to mess with one a Noctua NH-D15 would more than suffice. 3600 should be fine for a few years, but he'll have a bigger problem when AM4 goes away... at that point might as well get a Zen 3/4 (assuming 4 is on AM4).
  2. Funny coming from someone who doesn't own a Ryzen or has used the Wraith Prism.
  3. Did you really just Google something completely different and try to pass it off as what I linked?
  4. Imagine that. They're running within spec and overheating... on a wraith cooler. The same one you said is fine.
  5. They were doctored as fuck. You got caught red handed.
  6. Funny the two dipshits who don't even own a similar or equivalent CPU arguing against me and the owners on the Internet.
  7. Hold on, let me doctor some images to prove my point... like you did with Gears of War 4. Idiot.
  8. Maybe I should have said it was fine and be wrong... like you all the time.
  9. I don't recall TLHBO saying anything about that, but okay. I already suggested the 3600 which is probably the best option. It's better than spending the extra money on a CPU you'll never fully realize.
  10. It's the same cooler that came with the 2700X, a CPU that idles cooler, runs at lower voltages by default and has a lower boost frequency. I was losing a good 300-400MHz because the CPU wanted to throttle down. It's not a secret and you obviously haven't followed Zen releases so arguing with you over something so simple is pointless. You simply don't follow the topic... stick with the 4 core scrubs.
  11. No. I actually come from experience with this cooler. What kind of experience do you have with it? That's what I thought. The only thing it's good for is a desk ornament if you buy 3700X. This cooler is perfect for something like a 3600.
  12. Disagree completely. It's a cheap add-in box fan. You can't expect to use that cooler and utilize the 3700X to its full extent. It would be a disservice to that CPU. Also, the voltages are an issue with that cooler. It's not going to hold up he's just going to end up thermal throttling that CPU all the time, guaranteed. I think that maybe a 3600 is better suited for his application.
  13. You can lower the voltage to control temps, but it doesn't look like something you're probably interested in playing around with. I have 2700X and tried the previous Wraith Prism and it was garbage. I already had bought an AIO for 2700X, but I wanted to see how it performed for the lulz. Those things are better suited for a 2600/3600. If you're going to use it don't bother with PBO, you'll just end up throttling the CPU even after playing with voltages. There's no downside except fucking with more cabling (from the fans and AIO itself). I have an old box with an i5-3570K I use as
  14. Most BIOS default to over 1.4v+ under small loads. Unless he wants to fuck with that it's better to just get a cheap AIO.
  15. Get an AIO, at least a 240mm or push/pull 120mm. The wraith isn't good enough.
  16. Personally, I've had the best experience with ASUS ROG/TUF boards and Gigabyte AORUS, but they are a bit pricey. This may help in your decision.
  17. Looks like you still have just a hair left of room to play with too. Definitely need to upgrade that CPU.
