I don't agree with the diminishing returns aspect, but it does makes more sense to work towards better visuals through ray-tracing which is exactly what's going to happen. With Sony having an electronics/TV arm in their stable it'll be in their best interest to support their upcoming 8K products. Doesn't matter how you feel or think about it. 8K TVs are going to eventually replace 4K as the standard offering and despite you or others not moving on, technology will continue to move forward to sell those products. Just like PS4 Pro and One X pushed forward to support 4K despite the adoption rate.

I've been saying for a while now that once next generation consoles hit that pretty much will end 3rd party support for Switch. We won't be seeing games like Hellblade, Doom, etc. being ported as often or at all.

By one-off fluke you mean the necessity to support 4K, then yes. The mig-gen refreshed consoles were released when 4K TVs were just about the only option for mid-to-high range TVs, which were mostly 4K. It is jut now in the last couple of years that even low end TVs are mostly 4K as well. If there is a mid-gen refresh next generation it'll be to better support 8K resolutions.

Sport is legit as fuck. It literally feels like a racing sport simulator. Maybe so, but one thing is for sure... Playground Games > Turn 10. There's a reason Turn 10 has had to completely overhaul Forza 7... it's trash. At the same time though, Horizon isn't even really comparable to Sport or FM7, and Polyphony doesn't make arcade games. I'm excited to see what's next for both franchises. We already know Polyphony has been playing with ray-tracing for a while real-time or not. Exciting times ahead regardless of franchise.

I'll give you Forza Horizon, but Forza 7 is complete and utter trash compared to God Turismo Sport.
