Imagine how much of a bastard you have to be to be a cop and say this with a straight face. They record everyone, buy up data, push the surveillance state, cause distress with bullshit raids without caring about the suspects reputation, these are the worst kind of hypocrites and it makes my blood boil. Its a shame they rarely get harmed in the "peaceful protests" America is known for, fucking SCUM every single one of them.

Let me tell you the story of 7-year old Aiyana Stanley-Jones.

A high school boy was shot and killed. The suspect's girlfriend lived in a duplex in the second floor apartment and the suspect's girlfriend's sister, niece (Aiyana), and grandmother lived in the bottom floor apartment. A SWAT team raided the first floor apartment beginning with a flashbang being thrown through the living room window where Aiyana was sleeping.

The police claimed they were blinded by their own flashbang upon entry, the grandmother then grabbed an officer's submachine gun upon the SWAT team's entry of the home, and the grandmother accidentally caused the gun to fire, killing Aiyana via a shot to the neck.

That would be the end of the story, but the SWAT team was being followed by a camera crew for a cop show. When the police story came out and it was clear it was going to be covered up, a videographer for the show released video that showed the police story was bullshit. What actually happened was the flashbang landed close to where Aiyana was sleeping, setting her blanket on fire. The police knocked down the front door and quickly opened fire. A single shot went through Aiyana's head and out her neck, killing her.

Police entered the wrong apartment, killed a 7-year old girl, and blamed the grandmother for her death. Pretty gross, right? Well, that cop got off scot free and is back working for the Detroit PD. The videographer got 2 years probation and a $2,000 fine for 'obstruction of justice.' 🙂

Wow, I feel like an idiot now. I assumed the license would come with all the teams and players included. So they're basically just paying to use a logo?

Basically. It's just the FIFA name and the World Cup branding. But I think you not knowing that shows the climb EA has ahead of them.

They apparently made $1.6 billion off FIFA/Team Ultimates last year. Paying $250 million to keep the license seems like a steal at that point.

$250-million for just the FIFA license is pretty ridiculous. You don't get any teams or players with that money and have to license it all out in addition to the FIFA license. If every person that played FIFA 2023 completely understood that nothing was changing except the FIFA name and the game would be the same with the same modes/players/teams, do you think it would hurt EA to the tune of $250-million? Probably not, they just have that marketing hill to climb to get people to understand that.

It's also not just 'why doesn't EA pay $250-million' but also 'who else would pay $250-million'? $250-million a year and you still don't have UEFA leagues, CONMEBOL leagues, Premier League, Bundesliga, LaLiga, or Series A because they're all EA exclusive.

That's not PES or winning eleven :umad:

    Cute.

Getting the FIFA license would give them the opportunity to bring PES back and distance themselves from what a disaster eFootball has been. It's not like they've been making bad football games for an extended period of time so they have to some capability left.

I setup the alienware last night. The screen is large, sharp, and the colors are fantastic. That said, I had read some issues about text quality and they were definitely accurate. The text has this odd almost fuzzy look to it, especially white text on dark backgrounds (which happens to be the SW theme I use). I will have to get used to it, while this is likely a great monitor for gaming and media its probably not the best option for general use.

21:9 support for games also still seems like it has a ways to go as well. I've only tried BF2042 so far and it looked great during gameplay, but suddenly decided to render in a small box with black bars on the side during the post match results screen which was jarring. I expect the average indie game to have some real compatibility issues with this aspect ratio as well.

So yeah its a good monitor but has some noticeable issues which is a bit unfortunate given the price. I think given the size it was worth it for me though, I needed something larger because I have a small couch behind me in my office and I want to be to use it while gaming, instead of just constantly using my chair which has worsened my posture over time. I also wanted a PC monitor that had decent quality HDR and the options for that are still pretty limited.

edit: The average youtube and twitter video has black bars on the sides which is also going to take some time to get accustomed to.

I actually gave mine to my wife because I was partially concerned about burn-in risk as a work from home programmer and partially because it just wasn't a great monitor for dealing with all that text. I swap it back when I know I'm going to be spending a weekend playing a game, though. It's an incredible gaming monitor that you'll get use to and look at anything else as washed out.
