  1. PC gaming builds character. You've never really gamed until you've had to troubleshoot crashing due an insufficient amount of voltage to RAM. Miss me with that plug and play baby shit. :facep:

LTT did a cunty thing with the auction. Makes me wonder if they just took it for granted that they get so much shit given to them they just auction it off afterward? I dunno, doesn’t seem like they would need the money, shitty behaviour from them but I doubt they have outwardly tried to fuck over a start up to make a few grand when they would obviously get found, seems more like a mistake which was just shitty on there part but not malicious, similar to there typos on there results tables.

Nobody has ever claimed the auction was malicious. The auction was for charity so LMG wouldn't have seen a cent from it anyway.

The issue of malice was concerning the handling of Billet Labs afterwards and what looked like LMG ghosting Billet Labs when they brought up that LMG had wronged them. LMG has an email from the day this all want down asking Billet Labs to send them an invoice, so I think any questions of malice towards Billet Labs can be closed. LMG is just deeply dysfunctional...though I've hit reply instead of reply all to work emails often enough to feel them on that.

Meanwhile Steve (?) is playing this like he’s machine gun Kelly to Linus’ Eminem. He can try his little heart out all he wants but he’s not going to win against the much better outfit.

    :ben:

LMG released a 20-minute video where they announced they're stopping production for a week to re-tool their pipelines and had every department lead apologizing to the community for their part in the errors. It caps off with Linus almost crying while admitting he let his emotions get the best of him and apologizing to Billet Labs. I think it's a great video and exactly what I want from this controversary: LMG promising to do better (I'm a LTT Floatplane subscriber, I love LTT). But you're kidding yourself if you think LMG "won" this. :D

I might be wrong but if he wanted to know what the deal was with good intentions he could have just asked Linus but instead he’s posting response videos and riding the wave of attention he’s getting right now.

It'll be interesting if GN acknowledges their errors in this or if they do just ride the wave.

What was the date of that communication of them demanding their prototype device? August 10th?

When does Steve post this video? August 14th?

Was the email directed at Linus, or somebody else in his organization? Was there internal discussion going on at LMG, maybe some lower tier guy is having to verify what happened, or get permission on how they should respond.

That's what would happened with actual in-depth reporting.

Copies of emails from one side doesn't really show the whole picture.

Linus released a video showing internal emails that were supposed to be sent to Billet Labs but accidentally weren’t. They didn’t CC them so Billet Labs never got them.

GN does look pretty bad not reaching out to LMG now.

This could 100% be a case of "Linus didn't know about this prototype cooler, and he didn't realize that it was a prototype when it went to get sold, AND when the manufacturer contact them about it, he didn't see the email."

And if that's the case, and Steve presents him with the information, Steve would have to present Linus's excuses in his "reporting."

They mention it’s a one of a kind prototype in the original video, so this example doesn’t really work.

I think there’s a point to be made along this line of reasoning that does have some merit, though. That LMG might not have understood the manufacturer wanted it back as that information wasn’t in the public domain prior to the initial GN video.

GN cited conversations between Billet Labs and LMG provided by Billet Labs in that original video. Those conversations clearly showcased their desire to have it back and LMG has acknowledged those conversations as accurate and that LMG is at fault, but prior to that acknowledgment there was no public statement from LMG about it and it would have been prudent to at least confirm Billet Labs wasn’t just making shit up by contacting LMG.

Yes he does, if he actually wants to release it as an actual "investigative report"

Here, let me explain in the simplest terms.

If he had an ACTUAL news editor review his report.........the editor wouldn't allow this to release without him seeking comment.

"right" has nothing to do with it.

You're basically saying you're okay with fanboy-based stunts being disguised as "journalism."

Rachel Maddow's producers still has to go to Trump's people to seek comment when they got a copy of his taxes.

You're talking like as if this is something negotiable. Its not.

Rachel Maddow would absolutely not contact somebody if they felt a cover up would take place or that the information was in the public domain and didn't require comment. The entire point of contacting the subject of an article for comment is to ensure the information in your article is accurate and thorough, it's not a courtesy to the subject to alert them to the existence of the article.

What information do you think Linus would have provided to GN had they contacted him prior to releasing the video? We've already seen him literally lie and try to cover up the Billet Labs situation. He posted a lengthy response to the first video and didn't identify anything incorrect except the 'sold at auction' vs. 'auctioned at auction(?)' semantics.

actual journalist don't have to make reasons for WHY YOU SHOULDN'T seek comment for something that you are calling an "investigative report"

    You HAVE to do it.

It is a basic common thing in journalism...........you don't make excuses for it, even if you think you have great excuses.

He did it to blindside him, and clearly to not give him a heads up to see if he could rectify some things.

    That's yellow journalism.

You don't have to do it and Linus literally tried to cover it up by bullshiting about having an agreement in place to pay the Billet Labs guys. GN was completely in the right not to go to LTT first and Linus showed exactly why.

Billet Labs reddit post confirming the GamersNexus story

    Quote

Regarding LTT, we are simply going to state the relevant facts:

On 10th August, we were told by LTT via email that the block had been sold at auction. There was no apology.

We replied on 10th August within 30 minutes, telling LTT that this wasn't okay, and that this was a £XXXX prototype, and we asked if they planned to reimburse us at all.

We received no reply and no offer of payment until 2 hours after the Gamers Nexus video went live on 14th August, at which point Linus himself emailed us directly.

The exact monetary value of the prototype was offered as reimbursement. We have not received, nor have we asked for any other form of compensation.

  8.

lmao holy fuck is LMG scummy. :D

    Summary:

    - Billet Labs sends a one-of-a-kind prototype to LMG for a video and wanted it back, LMG said they would send it back, a miscommunication occurred and it got auctioned

    - GN makes that video in the OP and includes a section about the Billet Labs situation

    - Linus makes a post on the LTT forum calling GamersNexus out for breaking the rules of journalism by not reaching out to Linus before posting the video to get his side of the story

    - Linus claims his side of the story in the Billet Labs situation is that they had an agreed upon price to pay Billet Labs back for the prototype, so if GamersNexus has contacted him before posting the video they'd know this

    - GN asks Billet Labs when that deal took place, Billet Labs says LMG ghosted them after the auction and only reached out to them after the GN video was posted

It's new reporting and the full documentary is coming soon.

So the evidence isn't out yet, but you're already convinced?

It's interesting what a coordinated effort there is to try and claim whales are no longer immensley sensitive to sound in the water. We've known for decades that large boat propellor noise is detrimental to whales. What do you think wind turbines are? Have you ever been near one? In the water they are much louder.

You do realize the criticism of wind farms is on the pre-construction sonar and the "pile driving" during construction, not the sound generated during operation, right? :ben:

If I make a Paladin will I be forced to make lawful good choices in the story?

No. You choose an 'oath' at character creation and each oath has rules for behaviour. You still aren't required to follow those rules, but there are consequences.
