console prices are ridiculous in general. the switch oled is still selling well at $350. so, the ps5 selling at $499 makes sense. i kind of wish xbox did better this gen. maybe we'd see actually competition and the premium systems would be around $350-$399.

for a person heavily invested in the ps ecosystem, and wants to remain in that ecosystem, the pro is a fine choice. for others, pc is the better choice. also, in the long run, pc will be cheaper (free online, cloud storage, better game discounts, etc.)

Not really. The ps5 cpu is comparable to an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X. They are $160 new, which means they are under $80 to make. Sony could have ditched the second tb and put that extra $100 towards a newer, faster CPU.

Sony should have beefed up that cpu. Oh well.
