But you for some reason, are knocking Switch for launching in 2017 with 2015 hardware but praising deck for launching with 3 year old tech

That's a given because it's a mobile system... But it is powerful enough to play console games on the go. Which was the Switch was as well at launch in 2017. And which will be Switch 2 when it launches next spring.

Of course the API tools are the most important. But tailored API tools +tailored hardware > tailored APIs alone. Example OG Switch vs Newer. Model Switches... One has much better battery life because of the additional tailoring in hardware (designed on a smaller node) When has Nintendo went with the cheapest option besides the Blue ocean era? (Wii/u). NES wasn't a cheap option for its time, Neither was SNES, neither was N64 or GameCube. At the time the Switch was being developed the X1 was the best chip avaliable at mass market scalability for a hybrid console.

The X1 hardware wise wasn't made with Switch in mind. The X1 was tailored to switch through API ONLY specifically NVN. The chips set itself wasn't designed with Switch in mind. Disabling some Cuda cores and down clocking does not equal the chip being designed for Nintendo. I'm saying whatever chip set they use for Switch 2 would have both software and hardware tailored to it... Unlike X1 which was purely tailored through APIs.

The power efficiency gains that Nvidia will target for Switch 2 will take care of that. Unlike the first Switch, switch 2 chipset will be designed/tailored specifically for Nintendo.

The same reason why consoles outsell gaming PCs is the same reason Switch will outsell all those handheld PCs combined. Pick up and play ease of use of a console. The mass market consumer is not tinkering for two hours to get a game to run. Keep dreaming.
