  1. Lemming getting suckered into spending another $500
  2. I'm so bad with last minute shopping, but since a friend has a birthday on Dec 23rd and people were going to be out of town immediately afterwards, I had to scramble to do last minute shopping this weekend. So now, I actually get to relax a little bit on Christmas eve and probably drink some margs. Happy Holidays!!!
  3. Watchmen, True Detective Season 1, and Chernobyl are the best things HBO has put out this decade. And they all have one thing in common, the story that was told was isolated entirely to that short series of episodes. None of them were treading on a future payoff that was completely botched. I'm willing to say that each episode of Chernobyl was much more impactful than any show's singular episodes, but if we're talking about judging a whole season, I'd have to say True Detective Season 1 is probably the best.
  4. Watchmen is probably the best show this year, and it enjoys the same advantages as a short series like Chernobyl did. It has 30 years of comic book hype, and its a one-time deal. And things happen that feel as if they are permanent events. If HBO decides to force another season of Watchmen, it will fall down to earth so fast, it will never recapture what they did. If HBO makes that mistake, future seasons of The Witcher will be outscoring it. With The Witcher, we just barely established the Prologue. The first main novel begins next season.
  5. Yeah, it was quite good and consistent throughout. Something that Outer Worlds wasn't.
  6. Yeah, that list is not that solid simply because of The Outer Worlds. This leads me to believe that he selects his best games based on gamer hipsterism being a major factor. For example, Jedi Fallen Order is probably a better all-around game than The Outer Worlds, but he would never include it since its an EA game using the Star Wars license.
  7. To wrap up the season. Episode 7. Nice episode, nicely connects everything, and it highlights a few pieces of dialogue that didn't make sense at the time of the first episode, and then sets up the final battle. I would've liked to see them devote some time to explain what happened during those 12 years and the people that aren't there anymore. Just because they robbed us of 12-13 minutes of content, 8/10 Episode 8. Very cool battle. And unlike other shows, what happens in battle is interesting because of the things that Sorceresses can do, and weapons they have. Never
  8. You know he panicked the moment he ran towards the production values. Entertainment Weekly did me a favor by completely making the Rottentomatoes critics score entirely suspect. User score has you spooked, and you know it. To paraphrase Geralt "How you like that silver?.............because The Witcher is taking the Gold"
  9. The Cowboys are having the most Cowboys-like season ever. Its only fitting. I fucking missed this slo-mo close-up shot of Dak Prescott near the end of the first half. Dude looked like his world was collapsing, I should've taken a picture. lol
  10. Nope.......they dismissed themselves and the metacritic score. The user score is more accurate, and GoT fans should be worried if the PROLOGUE that doesn't even get to the first main book is already scoring as high as one of GoT best seasons. And we're seeing that worry happening right now
  11. They don't when they clearly admit to not watching the show. I like how this has been explained to you about 3 times, and you've avoided it each time. And this thread was about the combat.............which you also avoided that. The Witcher is a success, and as long as they avoid botching the ending, like GOT, it will remain that way.
  12. Yeah, I changed the channel to the cowboys game about halfway through the 3rd because the Mavs were up 30, and then get a notification that they lost. I was noticing during the 3rd quarter that it looked like they were getting too complacent with throwing up 3 point attempts, wouldn't surprise me if they allowed the Raptors back in because they just kept on heaving it. Ah well, looks like we went 2-2 in this road trip against Milwaukee, Boston, Philadelphia and Toronto without Luka. #1, 2, 4, and 6th best teams of the Eastern conference. Should've been 3-1.
  13. Botched is the perfect way to describe GoT. Botch implies that they ALMOST HAD IT........and messed it up. How is that not the perfect description of what happened to GoT. GoT has some very admirable qualities, but they don't impress me because I watched a little show called Rome on HBO back in the day. So the stuff GoT became famous for didn't impress me much because Rome was already doing them. They botched it. And whining about production values is like a gamer saying graphics > gameplay. Doesn't work in video game arguments, an
  14. Oh it absolutely is. I don't fully blame the tv show-runners, either. Because its not 100% their failure. Its also a sign that G.R.R. Martin failed to finish his story. They tried to make up the lack of story with action scenes. For the final 2-3 seasons. No.......production values do not tank a well-made story. Just like production values cannot SAVE an unfinished story. Botched. And its forever botched, and they will never be able to undo what they botched. Thankfully for The Witcher showrunner..........she has
  15. Compared the GOT, the combat rapes it. Compared the GOT, the show is a better adaptation. The Witcher story has plenty of praise, on the same level as the GOT stories. Sorry, but that's the truth. The Witcher is a success. The Game of Thrones tv is a botched failure...........let me know if Netflix's Witcher botches it like GOT did.
  16. This is perfect for people to understand the timeline of the characters throughout the first season. Mind you that Season 1 is mostly comprised of the short story books. This first season basically acts as a prologue to the first ACTUAL full-length novel that was written, Blood of Elves. So technically, we're not even to the main story yet.
  17. Nope, nobody is criticizing the cast, or the story. Just production values, which include the cgi. Nice try., and thanks to EW, that metacritic score is completely irrelevant. THe most relevant thing would be the GoT defenders clearly acting threatened by this show. The Witcher always wins
  18. This show would've been off da charts if they casted Yennefer, Eva Green. That'd be as perfect as Henry Cavil as Geralt. But, since they are starting with her origin story, they needed a younger actress who has no problem showing off those tits. Now Triss, on the other hand.........they better re-cast that in Season 2.
  19. There are no "various ways" All I hear is "CGI, production values". That's the only complaint. LOL I just pointed out that EW got busted only watching 3 episodes before making their review. Keep running to other subjects. The show is a success, and unlike Game of What?, actually faithful to the books.
  20. you're changing the subject...........because this thread is correct. Actual combat scenes are better in Witcher. Its okay to pounce on the CGI, that's basically an admission that the show is good and the only thing to complain about is the special effects. That's because Netflix put most of the money in the most important special effect of them all: Absolute. Unit. Alot better than a show that seems mostly comprised of cinemax softcore porn actors.
  21. Dayum. Geralt is rapin' fools outside of the tv show.
  22. LOL, Entertainment Weekly admitted that they only watched 3 episodes out of 8, and gave it a zero score. Nothing backfired. And especially considering how its barely the first weekend, and how much different tv is today compared to 10 years ago, Witcher is easily a success. The comparison to GoT mentioned in the OP was clearly referring to the combat. That one scene in the first episode of Witcher skullfucks 8 seasons of fight scenes in Game of Thrones............and you know it.
  23. Episode 5. Quite good and memorable, and almost entirely centered on Geralt since they are now finally having him come across Yennefer, and it was funny throughout. I still think they aren't doing a good job demonstrating the change of time unless you're paying attention to a small piece of dialogue. 9/10 Episode 6: Not as memorable, and some things don't make sense, and it failed to have the proper special effects in certain parts. But the introduction to the Dwarves was awesome. I don't know Zoltan is specifically a CDPR character, or if he's part of the books. The head Dwarf cle
  24. I guess they could continue with making up their own post-books storyline where they can make up any story they wanted. I wonder if they're allowed to make the setting in the southern territories, because originally CDPR was only allowed to reference northern territories and certain kingdoms.
