No, you just said that movies do not display in Dolby Vision.

    Yes it does.

You are now trying to change what you just claimed.

Sorry, its not working with me.

Not for movies either. Nice self own Jerry.

There’s also no hiding from the fact that the PS5 doesn’t support either the Dolby Vision or HDR10+ premium HDR formats. Discs that support either or both of these formats offer extra scene by scene HDR image data that compatible players and TVs can use to produce better, more dynamic images. Not supporting either format leaves users with just the baseline HDR10 system, which doesn’t provide scene by scene image data and so requires TVs to try and make the best of the more limited data on offer.

Sony’s previous two generations of standalone 4K Blu-ray player have, though, supported Dolby Vision. Albeit in a rather clumsy way (see this review of the Sony X1100ES for more details). So it would have been nice to see Dolby Vision turn up on the PS5’s 4K Blu-ray player too.

sure, we'll do a 4 week ban bet

    right?

Let's see you fire up a UHD disc on PS5 with the Dolby Vision logo popping up on the top right. I have the same LG OLED as well.

Considering this is impossible since Sony did not buy a Dolby Vision or Atmos license this will be interesting to watch.

    No, you're wrong.

    Very wrong.

I even talked in the TV/Film thread about buying the Dune 4K UHD blu-ray.

I watched it on my PS5............I press the "INFO" button to show the video details from my LG OLED.

It clearly shows "Dolby Vision" in the info, along with resolution and what type of video codec.

    You're wrong.

The video player (UHD Media Player, Xbox Series X, PS5) does not do the decode.........it passes the Dolby Vision metadata to the TV.............because the TV does the decode.

If the TV advertises that it can display in Display VIsion.........the manufacturer would've had to have paid the licensing fees, and the tv must perform the decode anyways.

So, in case you aren't quite sure, lemme repeat............you're wrong.

You can say I'm wrong as many times as you want but PS5 still won't output Dolby Vision.

Weirdly, Sony has not implemented Dolby Vision, selecting to go with the open HDR standard. The PS5 doesn't support Dolby Atmos audio either, instead opting to use its own 3D audio.

The lemmings are so stupid, and have just proven that they have no credibility regarding tech specs.:tom:

Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos is passed through to the tv which decodes Dolby Vision, and the home theater receiver which decodes Dolby Atmos.

Like every other 4K UHD blu ray player would do.

:tom:you guys literally don't know the first thing..........OR you're too stupid to setup your home theater systems.

What is Jerry talking about LMAO. PS5 doesn't support Dolby vision, so it doesn't send the data to begin with for the receiver or the TV to decode.

You're stuck with HDR only for games and for movies regardless of what display you use.

never got tickets, and i'd like to see it in a Dolby Atmos theater, since its not really formatted for IMAX.

I'll try to find tickets in my local theater next week, because I don't like sitting at the end of rows.

I saw it in laser IMAX looked great. Make sure yours has laser

i'm seeing it tonight. 3 of my friends had the funniest debate over it. one called it ba7man. the other said it's chinatown meets se7en. the last was like, "hold up now, it's more like the two jakes meets se7en." i actually liked the two jakes, so all 3 reviews sounded great to me.

Yea the influences are there from a bunch of movies but it's unique in the genre for sure.

  7. This film was so great caught me off guard.

It's like Noir old school Chinatown type movie, not loud or flashy at all.

Might be my new favorite in the genre

Read it in a thread on reddit a while back. Someone claiming to be in the beta program. Could be absolute bullshit. Trying to find the reddit thread. I know they rolled it out into their TVs with new firmware as well. So I don't really have a reason to doubt the dude.

    Cmon bruh
