This sounds more like Nintendo. They have a history of revisions, but those revisions don't typically mean a huge increase in power. DS->DS Lite was basically just shrinking the console and increasing the battery power. 3DS to New 3DS was more about the larger/better 3D screen, c-nub, and the internal storage than the processor upgrade.
