  1. Well even a broken watch is right twice a day.

Whatever, okay. That's great, YOU called it. Good for you, have a fuckin cookie. YOU were not surprised but YOU are singular.

But BG3 definitely surprised the gaming industry. No one saw this game coming, which again, was my point.

Well, no one besides you. There, I said it, enjoy your validation.

  2.  I literally said only the people within BGs circle were talking about it and expecting it to be good, you dumbass. But not even those within that circle were expecting it to be as big as it is. Even fans are calling BG3 a unicorn, a rare exception. Games from this genre just don't see this kind of attention and praise. BG3 surprised everyone with how it blew up and took the gaming world by storm. THAT was my point.

Even fuckin Hasbro is surprised and is expecting BG3 to make more money than all of its film licensing over the past 10 years.

So don't even try to act like PC players knew this game was going to be the phenomenon it is. You didn't, STFU.

The only people who weren't taken by surprise by Larian's game being a AAA hit were PC players.

It also wasn't a surprise to me that cows, coming off Final Fantasy 16, needed a game they could latch onto to pit against Starfield... and luckily for them, Microsoft's policies handed an exclusive window to them.. and thus the hype fully went onto BG3.

    That's some bullshit...

No one was talking about the game until those first reviews dropped. Once the glowing praise started rolling in the game caught fire and it was popping up everywhere. A game with little hype became the most hyped game basically overnight.

I'm sure fans of the series were looking forward to the game and were even expecting it to be good but to sit here and act like you knew this game was going to reach far beyond its fanbase and hit mainstream appeal is just bullshit.

Get the fuck outta here... LOL

  4. Redfall was coming right off the tails of the Dishonored games. Arkane was on the up and a new game by them seemed like a sure thing. At that point in time it would definitely seem like the better pick over BG.

... But then the development hell began and Arkane lost a lot of key staff. How was MS suppose to foresee that happening?  MS already invested a lot into the game though so they were just kind of fucked.

  5. Not Sony's fault, blame SquareEnix.

FF is responsible for the continual decline in interest for JRPGs that plagued the genre for over a decade.

FF was THE JRPG series to many people and yet the series has been polarizing since X-2. X-2, XI, XII, XIII, XIV, XV, VIIR and XVI.... After so many entries in a row getting mixed reception FF basically killed interest in the entire genre for a period of time. Just look at the PS3/360 for proof, the JRPG offerings are scarce and limited compared to previous gens. JRPGs were considered too risky and a lot of that blame falls on FF. FF is suppose to be the best the genre has to offer, and yet the reception is nowhere near universal. If FF is getting negative feedback then interest in the genre as a whole suffers so why would you take the risk and develop a JRPG?

JRPGs were pretty much only being made with smaller budgets and smaller teams and the DS ended up being the perfect platform for that kind of development. DS was a sanctuary for the JRPG genre, without the DS, the genre wouldn't be where it is today.

Things have only recently started to turn around for the genre last gen on consoles and its because after so many years of playing lower budget JRPGs, the interest for a big budget JRPG had grown tremendously. And what game dropped at just the right time to take advantage of all that growing interest?

    Persona 5.

Massive critical success. Universally praised. People who don't even play JRPGs couldn't help but take notice of the game. The Persona series went from a niche series to instantly becoming the new face for the JRPG genre. The success of Persona 5 put JRPGs back in the spotlight and the genre has been riding that wave ever since.

And you would be surprised to find out that FF7R really wasn't that great of a success compared to other JRPGs. It only recently hit 7 million.

To put that into perspective, Nier Automata has sold close to 9 million. Dragon Quest XI has almost sold as well as FF VIIR and that series has historically always struggled in the West. FF isn't even SE's best selling franchise anymore.... Well, not counting FF XIV because that's a MMO with a paid subscription service.

We're talking about FF VII here. The most recognized and beloved JRPG of all time and pretty much every other JRPG has been more successful. And those other games didn't even have close to the budget that FF VIIR had.

FF VIIR just isn't the massive hit it SHOULD have been because of over a decades worth of SE shitting on the series and the genre as a whole.

  6. Going wait a bit before I try Lies of P. Wasn't really impressed with the demo.

Had to take a break from FF XVI, I'll clean up the Platinum later. I just can't be bothered right now. Even skipping all cutscenes and ignoring side quests the game is a slog. The problems with the game become really obvious on a 2nd playthrough.

So I'm playing Scars Above,  bought it months ago. This game is... kind of dookie. Apparently it's really short though and the story is supposedly pretty good so I'll soldier on through it.

I didn’t know there was a demo but that seems like a game that’s more up my alley. I’ll give it a try.

You'll probably love it. I tried the demo last week and thought it was alright and this is coming from someone who doesn't like the older entries. So I'm not really sure what's changed since now and then because its pretty much the same game but a lot prettier. I'll probably end up picking it up TBH.

  8. Might want to wait until we see some actual system specs before we start claiming anything. Only thing that can be said for sure is it will be stronger than the Switch.

Sure, the tech for Switch 2 to be a powerhouse does exist but I can't see Nintendo actually using it. Nintendo is not going to price their system over the $400 mark. They'll make compromises where need be to fit their price point.

    Indeed, barely anything B)

You and Jerry have that in common :romantears:

You're not running out to buy Horizon, or Gran Turismo, or God of War, or The Last of Us, or Ratchet, or Spider-Man....  And Jerry certainly isn't playing them unless he's forced to by someone here to win a bet.. :tom:

So don't expect ME to give a shit about the console either for those games... especially when they come anyway.

Never said you had to pick Sony. Pick Nintendo, pick MS, I don't give a shit.

  10. I'm a fan of many things, I ain't a fanboy of nothing.

    Also, that's not true.

I liked Demon's Souls Remake, I got a newfound appreciation of the game. Which surprised me because I didn't care for the original on the PS3.

Played FF XVI. Don't care for FF XVI.

I really liked Sea of Stars.

Those are the only games I've played on the PS5 so far. Oh wait, I did another playthrough of RE4 because my original playthrough was on PS4.

I've barely owned the PS5 for over a month now.

I dropped Trine 5 close to the end. the game is mostly fine but I got sick of the clunky combat and it’s just wayyy too long for its own good.

I decided to try Blasphemous 2. This game probably has the best 2D pixel art and animation I’ve seen.

Is there a lot of it or something?

Trine has always thrown in some combat portions but they are usually pretty measured about it. The game's are pretty self aware that the combat isn't the greatest so they use combat sparingly and focus more on the puzzle side. Well, at least the ones I've played did. Haven't touched 4 or 5.

Anyways, trying to play through Final Fantasy mode just to finish the Platinum but holy fuck... I'm skipping all cutscenes and this game is still such a damn chore to play through. I'm trying to force myself because I know if I stop I will never touch this game again.

  12. Hermits are literally just Manticores without the purple. So basically they're just pussies.

Useless faction. They bring nothing to conversation, they add nothing to the war. Delete it. There's a whole three of them so the faction won't be missed LOL.

    Pick an actual team, pussies.

    • Thanks 1
  13. Dude.... LOL, taking this too serious.

    Anyways, hang on...

Just trying to find a way to work with this...

    Hmmm... alright.

Yet no one is developing strictly for PC despite all of the systems being similar. Which is the ENTIRE point of what I've been saying... no one develops strictly for PC. PC gaming is dead.

So why the hell are you hermits running around claiming victory?

You've won nothing. Your horse didn't even compete in the race for long, it died back on lap 7. It looks like this::dead:

    Why are you still here?

No. Seriously. WHY is there even a Hermit faction? They got nothing.

If you want to participate in the race then back another horse. Because engagement with hermits is boring. You got nothing. Like literally nothing. The only thing they bring is the exact same recycled argument we have all heard a thousand times. It's so fuckin beyond stale.

Its like Cows, Lemmings, and Sheep trying to discuss some business and here comes some fuckin' washed up, stank ass, never-has-anything-interesting-to-say Hermit trying to stick their nose in where it don't belong.

Cow- Who the fuck is this? This dude with you?

Sheep - Naaah. I don't know who the fuck that is. How bout you?

Lemming- Looks kind of familiar but nope, not with me either.

All - Fuck. You got no place in this convo.

    Or it be like:

"Alright, Mom. I'm heading out to play some ball with the guys"

"That's fine, dear. But take your little brother with you"

"WHAT! NO! C'mon, he is just gonna get in the way and annoy everyone"

"I SAID TAKE HIM WITH YOU!"

    "Urrgghhh... Fiiiine"

    "Dude, why'd you bring him?"

"... Yeah, I know. I didn't want to but my Mom made me"

"Alright, whatever. Just keep him out of the way"

"Hey, little bro. Go sit over there. Sniff some Sharpies or something."

Yes. Master Race. There are fucked up ports due to UE issues which are being worked on, but MOST games are still better on PC (which I'll get to later). I'm paying 3x the price of consoles so my eyes don't get raped at 30 fps medium, or having to gut the settings to low for a meh 60 fps.  Consoles are so weak that even some of these fucked up PC ports are still better than the shitty PS5 versions at times. For example, Digital Foundry complained about REmake4 and Spider-Man port but STILL said they are by far best on PC. We traded exclusives for having a substantially larger high scoring library each gen, which is just better than 2 or 3 more exclusives. And it's the only place to really play competitive games, with the best online in general by a country mile.

Yeah sure generic movie game trash that no one remembered after 1 week like Jedi Survivor is fucked on PC. But then you have the flip side, games like Baldurs Gate 3, Zelda, Armored Core 6, Street Fighter 6, MK1, God of War, Remnant 2, Atomic Heart, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Spider-Man, Forza, Starfield, Hogwarts (after fixes), Diablo 4, etc. (and soon the CP expansion) all of which are substantially better experienced on PC. This string of bad ports sucks ass, but lets not act like a game being better on PC isn't far more common with how weak PS5 is. You will be literally listing a handful of games that are worse on PC than console each year when there are 100s of releases a year. And even some of those broken ports can be brute forced to run way better than PS5.

It's a shitty situation, but PC is still best.

And here's where hermshits arguments just fall to fuckin' pieces to me. It's always the same damn thing out of their mouths. Framerates, resolutions, or whatever. Blah blah fuckin blah...

Hermits HAVE to cling to this though because it's the only excuse you have to justify spending 3x more (let's be real- it can easily be more than than that) to play the same game. So you all push the argument, you push it with everything you got. You push it so hard you literally convinced yourselves that shit actually matters because you NEED it to matter. It's the only thing you got.

But it doesn't matter. It's never mattered anywhere near as much as you need to believe it does. Because if it truly mattered, WE WOULD ALL BE GAMING ON PC.

But cling to the argument you shall because otherwise you'll be reminded that the hardware you spent so much on is only being used to play games designed... for a console.

Because there are no games designed for PC.

There are no games designed to test the limits of the latest and greatest hardware.

There are no more games like Crysis, a game designed to test the limits of current and future hardware. No more games like Crysis are being made now or in the future because PC gaming is dead.

All that expensive hardware... Just to run a console game at a higher resolution and framerate...

You will never see what your hardware or the latest hardware is truly capable of because PC gaming is just more expensive console gaming.

  15. It's a running trend with the PC versions of a lot of games.

Pay all that money for a rig and it ultimately doesn't matter because devs don't bother to optimize the game so the games run like shit.

They have no choice but to play unoptimized console hand me downs though because there is no such thing as a PC exclusive.

Bu- buh Master race tho... LOL yeah, sure. Paying 3x the price of a console just to play shit versions of the console game. Fuckin' tools. 😆
