  1. I'm liking this game. Sure, I could point out a lot of problems I have with the gameplay like the camera isn't that great, some of the mechanics are a little iffy, the combat can get repetitive and isn't that deep to begin with, etc... But the thing is the game is aware of it's shortcomings so it does a lot of things to take your attention off them. The game does a good job of placing it's quirky and silly set pieces to help break up the monotony of it all so it keeps the game feeling fresh and more importantly, keeps me playing.

  2. So what exactly is it that people think gets worse about Far Cry 3 near the end?  I just finished it and the game seems solid the whole way through to me.  Unless you really liked Vaas for some reason and got put out by how stupid is death was, I don't really understand how you would like the game before that but find it noticably worse after.

Also I gotta add that these are the longest credits I've ever seen

Well Vaas was by far the most interesting character, so at least to me, the campaign wasn't as good after his death. I also started radiant historia, the combat system is a little odd but it's decent for now.

The combat gets really fun as you progress and learn new skills and get more party members. The combat can be as simple or as deep as you want it to be. The real draw of the game though is the time traveling, this game uses it so well. Radiant Historia is, IMO, the closest we'll ever get to a true Chrono Trigger sequel.

  3.

Dropped persona 3, the fatigue mechanic killed it for me. Replaying Infinite on 1999 mode and some Dota 2. Still looking for that one JRPG (outside of Souls and Parasite Eve) that I can enjoy.

Have you tried Grandia II? It seems to be another one of those games like Chrono Trigger that people seem to dig.

Nah, I'll give it a chance next weekend though.

    Radiant Historia. That is all.

  4. I'm starting and stopping alot.  I played about 3 hours into Mark of the Ninja on the PC and stopped.  I played Most Wanted U for about 5 hours last week.  I just got Lego City Undercover in the mail this weekend.

I should probably just pay $6 and play the final Sleeping Dogs DLC (or maybe they'll do another Steam sale soon).

Still never got back into Dishonored, I left that game about halfway through (I think).  Should go back and actually finish GTA4 because that is the reason why i won't begin playing the DLC episodes yet.

And somehow my brother lost or gave away the X360 copy of Red Dead Redemption, which I only played 3 hours into, I want to finish it because I bought the Zombie DLC a long time ago.

My PS3 broke quite some time ago, so I want to borrow a friends PS3 so that I can play Infamous 2, UC3, and a few other games I've missed.

And I can't find my 3DS, I want to buy a 3DS XL whenever it gets on sale (I just missed a Target $160 sale this past week), but I want to trade in my older model and transfer over my data.

Yeah, I got a mess going.

How does this not annoy the shit out of you? That would drive me crazy. Stopping a good way into a game but having an intention to come back to it months later? I could never do that. To me, doing that just completely breaks the flow of the game. Once I start a game I feel like I have to finish it and I'll rarely start playing another game until I finish the one I'm playing at that time.

  5. Yo when do I actually get to play in Persona 3?

Not for like 2 hours into the game. The beginning is really drawn out and honestly when you finally get to the gameplay it really sucks. It's just a repetitive dungeon crawler with a shitty combat system. I personally didn't care for the high school sim aspect either, thought it was lame as hell and way too weeaboo even for my tolerance level.

  6. Just finished Darksiders 2 and I must say I enjoyed the game. The game has problems but compared to it's predecessor DS2 improved on a lot of things. Darksiders was a solid game IMO but I think everyone who has played the game will agree it never quite felt like it's own game. It was just a mix of other games and even though the overall package was well made the game never had it's own identity. Not the case with Darksiders 2, you can find similarities to other games (in this case Prince of Persia and Zelda) but DS2 finds a way to stand out from it's influences and become something unique to itself.

  7. Perhaps I was too quick to judge this game, it's starting to get better. The voice acting doesn't seem as monotone anymore and the world is starting to get interesting with all the dwarves, elves and weird looking creatures starting to pop up. The game is finally letting me off my leash so I can actually do some exploring and side quests now. Still don't care for the potion system and the combat is still a bore but I'll stick with it.

  8. Ehh... this game sucks.

The game feels loose, Gerald or whatever the hell his name is feels like he's sliding around. The game doesn't feel responsive.

The inventory screen is a cluttered mess and the simple process of using a potion is needlessly complicated. First you got to Meditate, then you have to make sure you have the recipe, then you got to mix the ingredients to create the potion, then you got to set it to a slot before you can finally use it. It's stupid.

The combat is boring so far and you can easily cheese your way through it by dodging around like a lunatic between your attacks.

There's also a lot of talking. Like a whole lot of talking. Fine, it's an RPG so I should expect this but the problem is everyone kind of speaks in one tone so it ends up making the conversations sound very dry. I found myself just skipping through the dialogue most of the time.

  9.

Just finished S ranking Revengeance mode. Now just got to do the VR Mission achievements and then I can get rid of this asshole game.

why are you doing this to yourself. :S

For my e-cred, bro. Got a reputation to uphold.

First RE6, now this. I respect that. :salute:

Speaking of RE6. I broke 1 million with each character (alt costumes too) on each level in Mercenaries solo.

  10. It's a love/hate thing at this point. When it behaves then the game is fun but unfortunately that fun is short lived because it's almost guaranteed the game is plotting it's next dick head move right around the corner. The more I play this game the more it becomes apparent that the game is half baked. Kojima should've gave Platinum some more time because it definitely needed it.

  11. I love you, Rede. :)

Anyways, still playing MGR. I'm about halfway through R-04 on my S Rank Revengeance mode run and all the problems with the game are not even close to being hard to notice on this mode. The game might as well kick open your front door, take a nice huge shit on your Welcome mat, walk towards you then proceed to spit in your face, piss on your shoes, then walk back slowly giving you the double finger saying "Come at me, bro" with the most stuck up grin on it's face. This game is a genuine asshole and is always looking for the next opportunity to fuck you over. And believe me, it will fuck you over. Time and time again it will fuck you over. It will fuck you hard and tell you to shut up and take it like a big girl. There is no cuddling after, just an empty feeling inside as you sit there like the battered girlfriend and ponder "Why the fuck am I wasting my time with this shit? He's never going to change". Fuckin' asshole....

  12. Well I just bought MGR lol.  Hopefully I'll get to play it on the weekend if I finish Ni No Kuni.  Not expecting too much though.  Did you like it overall Sab?  It's hard to tell :ben:

That's just it, even I don't if I like it or not. I need to spend some more time with it, I get the feeling that I'm missing something. The kind of feeling that there's more to the gameplay than what I'm seeing.

  13. Just finished MGR. Some quick thoughts, don't really have the time to go into detail ATM.

-The game is really short, only 7 levels and the last couple levels are a lot shorter than the first couple. Level 5 is only like 10 minutes long (and that's taking your time to get through it), Level 6 is just a boss fight and Level 7 is a small section followed by the last boss. There is a lot of VR missions though so I suppose this is where the bulk of the play time is meant to be.

    - Combat never really changes. What you experienced in the demo is very much what you can expect from the full game. There are some different enemy types but they're not so different from each other that it'll vary the gameplay. Boss fights is where the interesting stuff happens on the combat side of things but there's only a hand full of them to begin with.

-People weren't kidding about the camera, it can get really bad in tight spaces and during certain boss fights. The camera will flip out really bad if you're near a wall as well, that's not a good thing to have happen in the middle of a fight and it happens often. I don't see how this got past play testing, considering camera orientation is pretty integral to your main defensive option (parry) having the camera spaz out will cause you to get hit when you really wouldn't of gotten hit if the camera would just behave. The whole situation doesn't even come off as cheap, it comes across as being flat out broken and made me really think less of the game.

-The story was alright, definitely a Metal Gear game by that standard. However, some of the cutscene shenanigans make the craziest moments in the DMC franchise look plain in comparison. There's a whole lot of silliness going on. Raiden's voice actor can get really jarring, he can sound straight up awful at times.
