I’m all over the place. Retired from GameSpot, came to SystemWars, NeoGAF, FlopEra, icon era, Reddit, GameFAQs, side scrollers , sw2, etc.

    Damn.

I trash talk people on youtube comments sections (especially culinary channels) if that counts. I have no idea how I haven't got banned yet, I'm even worse than I am on here. :D

The one positive from the early game combat is that the normal enemies die relatively fast, its only the bosses that are damage sponges. However, based on the footage i've seen the regular enemies will start becoming damage sponges as well. If thats the case then the combat is going to get old faaaaaast. No doubt about that.

They absolutely do and it's all based on the stagger mechanic. Which is seriously getting old at this point.

Im still not sold on the combat though. The weightlessness along with the fact that some enemies (like bosses in particular) are damage sponges means that you spend a lot of time just spamming the attack button and it never really feels that satisfying.

That's exactly how I envisioned the combat. That's not good. That might get boring after a while but it seems like there's not enough things to mix up farther in the game from what I've seen. Still won't change the feel of attacking though.

Avowed really didn't look that impressive. I was expecting more from Obsidian.

I thought that too but then again, compared to something like Pillars of Eternity 2, it's much better production values than usual.

I mean, The Outer World is the best looking Obsidian game still and it's not that great looking to begin with. So, this is actually quite in-line with what we should expect out of Obsidian.

At the end of the day I just want good lore, a captivating plot, interesting characters, good quests designs, you know, the real strengths of Obsidian. Their technical prowess was never their strong suit.

With that said the trailer wasn't very good. I remember being far more excited for the Outer World first trailer.

  5. It should still be third person, I know it sounds crazy but it's true. Third person games can done in VR quite easily and they look just as epic and you don't have to change the gameplay and keep regular controls. Not every VR game has to be some physical experience in first person.

Goddamn we need Astro Bot 2 to show how it's fucking done. FFS, what missed opportunity there.

I don't understand how there's so many games that are trying to do first person melee combat yet nobody has been able to make a goddamn spiritual successor to Dark Messiah.

    Avowed looks ok I guess

That's more of a physic based action game, I don't think it fit a pure RPG experience but I know what you mean.

  7. That Capcom game is so weird, like someone played Okami on LSD.

I also rewatched Avowed trailer. It's not impressive at all on a technical level but it looks good. I mean, I almost forgot this was Obsidian and apparently it's taking place in the PoE world so the lore/narrative should be exceptional if Pillars of Eternity 2 is anything to go by.

If it's better than The Outer World in term of quest choices, it will be a great game.
