  1. Can't stop playing Phoenix Wright it seems. The first act was kind of boring a bit but still already more complex than the usual intro act that is pretty much a glorified tutorial in all previous games.

The soundtrack is probably the most significant disappointment so far, thankfully some of characters are great. Especially Blackquill and seeing Phoenix Wright in a more mature view, you can tell he has accomplished a lot in his career. He's kind of a mentor like Mia used to be for him. I thought it was about time that he exudes some kind of grandeur than nature status, I mean the guy never lost in his career.

So yeah, pretty satisfying purchase. Feels nice to play a game that isn't about killing everything in sight too.

  2.

Finally started playing Phoenix Wright Dual Destinies. The animations are incredible, the visuals presentation has been enhanced significantly but without losing the traditional look and style the series has been doing for years.

    Feels good.

the only bad thing about them is that theres no transitions between animations. The characters just sort of reset to their original pose.

Like the sprites in previous games. Yeah, don't mind it.

Been playing Liberation Maiden on my 3DS. Nice little game but it seems quite short, only 5 levels? Crimson Shroud offered more bang for your bucks.

Love the music and style of the game though.

    did you get DD yet?

Yup, I'm going out tonight so I can't play it right now. Are you satisfied with the game?

yeah its solid, though the simplicity of the gameplay was kind of a bummer.

    You mean the investigation parts?

thats part of it, but the new psychology mechanic isn't that great either. instead of finding contradictory statements you're looking for contradictory emotions. The logic system in Miles Edgeworth was more interesting.

But that's not the case for every testimony, right?

  5. My memory might be hazy since I didnt play for long but is the first fights with the skeletons/having to save your first party member(s) and stuff? I remember that being pretty harsh and Dili saying that the battle itself is one of the more challenging ones since it's so early on.

    ...that's where I stopped. :ben:

You don't have to save anyone during the fight with the necromancer. It is one of the hardest fight in the game and it's quite early. You only have to defeat the boss though. Save up Canopus TP and use his special attack on the boss once you hit it a few times, should take care of things. It ain't that hard.

  6. Going to pick up Tactics Ogre later tonight, bought it last year or whenever it launched and got roughed up so I stopped playing.... so any tips? :ben:

Hmm, general tips, I don't even know where to begin. Ask me some specific question and I'll be able to answer.

One thing comes to mind though, your first mage always start with a dark type affinity spells, change it for something else as this one is rather useless (or hired a new mage at the shop), you want a elemental spell that gives damage like Fire or Lightning for example. Then the next skill to invest in is 'augment *whatever spell type you bought*.

Also invest in the skills that can raise in levels early, those should pretty much always be the first skills you aim to get. They take a long time to master and it's crucial to have them, for example, the basic weapon type skill, when they reach level 2 you gain a special attack as long as you have that type of weapon equipped.

    Your characters customization is everything.

  7. So I'm 5 hours into chrono trigger. It's good, and I like all the different times (and events that have happened) that you explore. I don't love it though. Does it get better as it progresses?

The story does get better. Other than that, the game doesn't evolve much in terms of gameplay, you'll get a ship that allow you to travel to different time as you wish and you'll learn new double/triple techs, get more party members.

Still playing Shin Megami Tensei IV. I'm addicted to it, I've played 10 hours + in the past 4 days. Just arrived in Tokyo, this is shaping up to be my favorite game this year.

It has a perfect blend of old school, no hand holding hard difficulty but at the same time it remains a very accessible game, the menus and everything are very intuitive. You also never feel like you've made the wrong choice about demons fusing.

I'm liking this game more than SMT Nocturne so far.

Yeah when the game opened up at Tokyo that was one of the best moments I had in the game, wasn't expecting it at all. Game keeps getting better, be careful of the choices you make since you want to be on the neutral path.

I'm almost done with my play through, it's becoming my GOTY as well, especially considering I loved TLoU. I'm just so immersed into the game and loving every detail in the world it's amazing.

So far I'm not neutral. I'm going toward the Chaos path, Walter always approve of my decisions.

I beat p3. That was a long fucking final boss fight. Sad ending ;( very great game, though p4g owns it.

You gonna start another RPG?Maybe :face: you got one in mind?

I'd gladly make recommendations, I know my RPGs but I don't know what you're looking for exactly. Forget about other RPGs with social elements though, those are rare.

Would you play an old SNES, PS1 era RPG? Something more focused on story telling or gameplay driven? and what platforms do you have or prefer to play on?
