It's amazing how MS have tricked the industry analysts to count TWO generations of consoles rolled up into one. That's truly astonishing, in a really slimy, cowardly way. 

Its hard to tell whats intentional because western media has a huge xbox bias, but I always assumed its because PS4 has still been strong enough to stand on its own legs whereas XBO is on its ass now so they include it as a footnote in XBS/XBX data.

The disco elysium screenshot above is interesting , I notice xbox games tend to always score just a little higher than their PS or PC counterparts. Xkid fansites tend to be more generous in reviews, like if you look at historical flops xbox always had more fansites AAA'ing mega flops than ps or nintendo ever did. (Even though at the time lemmings claimed the opposite I remember doing research on the numbers and xbox was by far the worst).

Still if everything has to go digital then PC wins no question. You can access your catalogue of games whenever and aren't dependent on the console manufacturer implementing full backward compatibility.

I guess what I was saying was the platform exists (Steam) and it's good, the anticheat support for things like EAC and Battleye are there and Valve does Proton so 3rd parties don't even have to port games natively.  Some companies like Sony are taking advantage of this and boasting about how great their games on on the Deck.

At this point if there is an issue with some Activision-Blizzard games then it's on them. Everyone else has done the work for them, they just choose to go their own route because they want to push their own store (which is terrible btw).

That's an Activision problem, not a Valve problem.

Sugarhigh is right steamos does indeed make windows feel legacy. While anything from Gog is easy to get running and integrates nicely, I can imagine that some 3rd party launchers and games aren't so simple. The solution is to ask the company to support your hardware, release games on the storefront of your choice, and not incude bullshit DRM. It all comes down to greed. They only want the games on their platform because they dont want to have to pay any fees, they force their bullshit clients into games because that way its easier to get you to sign up  and they ignore any platform that doesn't have mass appeal. All this while they run the Diablo franchise into the ground chasing saudi princes and twitch streamers who are confortable dropping 25k on a game to unlock lootboxes.

The support so far has been pretty good. I dont expect every major game to go out of its way but if steamdeck keeps growing you will see easier integration when publishers like activision decide they want a slice of that pie.

At the moment I can put my sd card into my PC and copy things over (but it gets blazing hot). But this sounds more useful, especially as you scale the amount of devices, and could possibly keep games hoarded on a few HDDs on an internal network.

Literally too much money to care. Its painful for me because I see the same attitude where I work and I can't but picture all the internal bullshit I see every day taking place at Microsoft too.

Sony fortunately is wealthy enough to invest serious money into gaming but not wealthy enough that they can shrug off a dead project thats as much a money sink as Xbox is for 20 years.

I wish Xbox would just die already its been circling the drain for a decade now.
