Well, several years is basically Wii U's entire lifespan. Also seems a little arbitrary to talk about the first several years only. The entire Wii U lifespan was basically - 3D World. Smash Bros, Bayonetta 2, SMM, MK8, Pikmin, Tropical Freeze, Splatoon, BOTW? That's all I can really think of. Eh it had solid ones for sure but I think it lacked the quantity as well as the higher end quality that switch got. The best Wii U games are a tier below the best of what the Switch has to offer.

Can't wait. Day 1 for me. Switch was (is) such a banger of console. The resurgence of Nintendo has been fantastic - console wise at least, I know they continued to do well in the handheld market. But Wii/Wii U were dark fucking times as someone who grew up on Nintendo.

I think you're ignoring the fact that Switch just comes with the portable mode. While I rarely use mine in portable, I didn't have to pay 500 bucks extra to do it.

Probably a lot easier and profitable to make Oblivion. Oblivion was when the series went mainstream, huge launch(?) title for the 360. More importantly, while it's not as dumbed down as Skyrim, it has a lot of the same modern conveniences and is significantly streamlined compared to Morrowind. They can update the graphics/engine and mostly leave the systems alone and have it play fine for a modern audience. I don't force it but as long as there's games I'm interested in I'll play them, I'm a bit more particular these days but there's still plenty out there that appeals to me - way more than I have time for. I definitely go through periods where I play more or less - covid was certainly an uptick in gaming. I've diversified my hobbies as I got older but a lot of them are seasonal or prohibitively expensive/time consuming and just not realistic to do every day. yep it's a 4-5/10 game. and the new patch makes it worse, somehow lol. one month in and the best they can come up is "we nerfed cooldown reduction because too many people were using it" - maybe cause the cooldowns are too long and the game is an absolute bore to play as a result. blizzard lacks any real game/systems design skills these days.

Finished FFXVi the other day - honestly the highest compliment I can give it is that I finished, for a (mostly) linear 3rd person action experience of that length that's a rarity and more than I can say for games like GoW:R, TLOU2, etc. Overall I thought it was great with combat, visuals and music being a stand out. Maybe the best audiovisual experience in gaming, atm. Was thinking about doing NG+ but a lot in the backlog as it is so hard to dedicate the time. That said if they do DLC I'll be there. Think I’m nearing the end here. Really enjoyed my time with it. Loses a bit of steam in the middle and they throw in a few too many filler quests but otherwise the moments kept one upping each other throughout. The combat is also just so satisfying. definitely missing some RPG staples so I can see why die hard FF fans would be displeased but at face value it’s an excellent game.

Really enjoying the game, it just continues to pick up steam as it goes on. I think I'm about halfway? Maybe a little less. Every environment is more impressive than the last, the soundtrack is great, im really having fun with the battle system, it's shallow as shit but it's just fun to zone out to and watch the spectacle.
