I'm halfway through Scarlet Nexus and the game is great but i just cant get myself to care about the story and characters. It's at a point where it barely holds my interest enough to even pay attention and a half-step above outright bad. Without looking it up I can tell the writers are the same from the Tales game. All the same Tales character tropes are all here.
Tales writers are like the JJ abrahams of jrpgs where they continue to get big work and fail upwards.

that was me with hades. i, no joke, got a pro controller so i could dock the system. it was killing my hands with the joycons. in retrospect, i don't know how i played games like splatoon 2 and mario odyssey undocked.
Same here. I noticed my patience seemed to just take a nosedive after the first 2 years. Once Astral Chain dropped was when i realized I couldn't do undocked anymore. Had Nintendo done a Switch pro with a redesign i would have been all over it

Well I’m sold. I wasn’t interested because it’s a overpriced platform that looks like shit to play watered down PC ports of games that were already watered down ports of console games. But this changes everything.
Some guy on an Internet forum likes it? Give me some vasoline while I bend over and spread my cheeks for valve.
Gaming culture has to be the worst medium with their worship of obese slobs on Internet forums and gaming websites. It’s like you fagots own trading cards of resetera posters, giant bomb editors, YouTube personalities and expect normal people to know and give a fuck about these talentless retards SMH

Or maybe they just won't want to keep making the same exact games for decades.
I really like Ys IX btw, the combat is excellent as always, soundtrack is good, the traversal mechanics makes exploring and finding secrets really fun. It's also tightly paced for the most part. Other than the low end graphics I can't complain.
It's not about making the same games.
It's really like Zelda or a Souls game. When i buy a SoulsI'm not looking for a grand scale storyline with tons of cutscenes or dialogue; I'm expecting an amazing adventure with first-rate gameplay. I expect a great and simple story there and told efficently without needless hours of drawn out cutscenes.
If the next Souls opens up with an hour long cutscene followed by hours of dialogue before the game begins then this wouldn't be Souls. That's what people enjoyed and that's what I expect.
That story trailer with straight up animu cliches of overly melodramatic screaming is so un-SMT it;s almost comedic

Yeah but it's Zen 2 and RDNA 2 so it basically slots in between a PlayStation 4 and Playstation 4 Pro on the go with a better CPU. This thing is freaking awesome.

400 for a handheld with no exclusives. Hermshits up Gabes asshole love throwing money at that fat slob like a cult to further support his eating disorder

Don't know why you would assume there is no story based SOLELY on the first gameplay trailer.
It's silly to assume based on a trailer but not if you're aware of the series history. Why do you think this franchise never took off with casuals while Persona did and far surpassed it?
I'm sure it's still going to be a great game and i'm looking forward to it but this really looks nothing even close to SMT anymore. Though that's fine because like the Ys games I already accepted long ago that all people involved with the franchise are long gone.

I still don’t know what platform to get Neo onI can't play games like these on the switch. Too fast paced with tiny controllers and my hands cramp. And if i'm going to play it docked with a better controller at that point i might as well get the PS4 version on PS5. Seems like a no brainer at least for me.

Scarlet Nexus is surprisingly pretty damn solid. Namco's previous new ip franchises i felt always suffered from a lack of identity. God Eater being an average Monster Hunter clone and Code Vein being an average Souls clone. I think this one nails the right aspects in terms of gameplay and being relatively fresh and unique enough to let it stand out on it's own.
Looking forward to playing a lot more. Hopefully I can get it done before TWEWY Neo comes out so I can beat Twinblade this time.

I’d still argue that Twilight Princess has by far the best boss fights in the franchise by a wide margin. Stallord was amazing.
I thought it was the most bland mainline entry Nintendo has released. And the visuals looked like straight up baby vomit

Wii-era Zeldas we’re some really dark days for this franchise.

Just started Scarlet Nexus.
Feels like I’m trailing behind every game twinblade is playing
I started with the dude although I read the girl has the better story. Is it that much of a deal breaker? It said he’s more focused on melee combat which sounds more fun to me and that’s why I picked him

I disagree about the pacing. The 2nd part of the dlc was just one long & monotonous dungeon that felt like it dragged on more than any dungeon in the base game. at least imo.
I really think this is up for debate. What I noticed is that FFVII dungeons went on and on because they were padded with a lot of puzzles/squeezing through blocked paths, slow walking chit chatter, stuff like the shinra tower constantly shifting back and forth between teams to open up pathways for each other, where as Intergrade's 2nd half is 1 mid sized dungeon that's more straightforward but more mid-boss encounters and the only puzzle i even remembered was the one where you have to climb the ladders to open up pathway to the upper floor. I vastly prefer this method as my time spent on the game is on the combat which is what i enjoyed most about the game.

Finished FFVII Intergrade
Think i've warmed up to the idea now of this not being a retelling and Yuffies Episode now further solidified that. I think if it was and retread i would have no further interest after the first game as i would have gotten my fill of curiosity. At least now it'll be new and exciting to continue to see where they take this that both new and old fans can enjoy. Square absolutely made the best and the right long-term decision.
I'd compare it to Nier remake that just released. I watched videos of it and I really couldn't get myself to buy it as much as i was really planning on it before release. Once you know the whole story I really lose the motivation to go through it again.
A bit on the short side, but i found myself having more fun than the original game. I also feel like they struck a perfect balance of cutscenes/gameplay. Yuffies combat was more fun than any character in FFVII. Also The original seemed to have dungeons that went on for hours and way too long, then afterwards followed by long periods of slow walking dialogue/long cutscenes. Here everything felt tightly paced.
I have more confidence in Square continuing to further improve the next game and take it to new heights now after the new episode as it's demonstrated they're on the right track and not as lost on what they wanted to do with the remainng story as i thought they were from reading their interviews.

Got through Nemesis finally on biome 3 in Returnal. Had an excellent run with 215% integrity and a high powered lobber. Also, took down biome 4’s Hyperion in my first try. That OST as you’re climbing was incredible. Been getting my ass kicked so far in biome 5 though.
Lobber is probably the GOAT weapon in the game. Once you get the timing down that thing absolutely shreds enemies and bosses.

man...i was really hoping for a powerful handheld i can keep at the office.
It really has nothing to do with the hardware. Falcom always makes such ugly ass low budget games. I downloaded the demo on PS5 and it looks absolutely horrendous. Literally a higher res PS2 game.

after ff7, is there a FF you recommend?
None tbh. The only other great modern FF is XIV but that's an mmo. It's been a very mediocre 15 years or so for FF.

Finally getting back into FFVII Intergrade. Damn Yuffies combat is beastly. I love how different it feels compared to ffvii. I’m loving the new jazzy soundtrack as well.
That new board game minigame is shite though. Square needs to just stop with mini games, they’re never going to make another triple triad level minigame again so why waste time, just make a new triple triad in every FF.

Do plus games allow the ps5 updates now? I know ff7 on plus didn’t get the graphics update. I know my series x version of PT has the update. Hopefully, Sony changed that dumb policy.
The PS+ game of the month is APT PS5 version, so talk of upgrading is moot. And no Sony still doesn't allow that. Which is good, as giving away FFVII for free, then allowing you to upgrade it is a slap in the face for people who bought it at launch at full price.
That's something i'd expect from hobo pass, not a premium console experience.
