i finished it yesterday. It was actually pretty good, lots of melodrama but that’s to be expected from a Asian show. Despite the cheap cgi there’s a lot of fun action scenes.

Spoiler

Da Jappos tend to (or used) invest a lot into their TV shows and dramas. They banked on western movies with 25x the budget for movies and movie theaters (go to a movie theater there and 80% of the attraction is western movies subbed). So it's no shock that there are many JAPANESE comedians actors and actresses, household names, who actually live and support their celebrity lifestyle just by doing work on TV and never on the big screen.

The thing with the budget, yeah, it's a little bit in between lol. They won't spend as much as a movie, but they're not exactly cheap neither.

he wont catch us.  :happysad:

I'm a sucker for melodrama sometimes but this particular horror setting needs to feel real. I will try anyway. the trailer makes it look like a japo shonen tbh with the main char getting infected and being the hero lol.

also what happened to train to busan sequel? has anyone watched it?

also koko stfu you know nothing about japan :D :D:D :D

I saw it earlier this year. It was a pretty big disappointment, they turned it into forgettable action movie with cheap ass CGI

it's ok tbh, train to busan og will always be remembered. It's my most rewatched korean movie for now. As much as I loved Snowpiercer and Parasite I think this will remain my fav. But I will see for myself.

Watched the first 3 episodes of Alice in Borderland. This shit is pretty crazy. The concept isn't original but its an effective hybrid of a lot of other popular japanese properties from movies like Battle Royale to games like Zero Escape and even animes like Gantz.

Gantz was sick. and sad lmfao. I feel sorry for these humans.

Alice was DOPE. I want to capture the end scene in ep 8 with za fire and the dude pontificating about the value of life and returning to the EARF. I picked up like 20 new words too/studied the subtitles a bit. And also got to hear a ghandi quote in pretty cool Japanese.  Now that's fucking cool. Also this returning to earth/stars phenomena is so JAPANESE i think even kids get it (remember FF13s trilogy story?). But it's kind of hilarious to think about how cosmically/scientifically true it is too. The Jappos are just infiltrating their own minds with knowledge without even trying at this point. Y'all better catch up, the satire that is America.

① Also, Fractals.  I haven't watched/read the manga, but I would not be shocked if there's another level above again and again and again. The jappos are so ridiculous I"m curious to see how far they  can write and take it.

②WHY IS IT CALLED BORDERLANDS? WHERE ARE THEY, REALLY?

③on episode 8, when the game-announcer said "the witch lurks/is somewhere amongst everyone."  even in Japanese they avoided using the word 'exists' (which is for living things). And it was a weird word choice at that.. I thought they just wrote it that way to teach kids and the audience Japanese [cuz you know that's actually the point of a lot of art in society, you realize this more-so, when you're learning it as an adult],.  i was like "cool I know the word 'lurks' too haha. reminds me of FFXV!" and I moved on...

Nope even that shit was a clue lol. ② So I think, the title of the show, and the fact that the characters still don't understand "where" they are is a huge clue too. the English title and japanese meaning are very different. methinks the director is adding a bit of information to what he meant., to the English title.

gj Twin Peaks. You entertained this man for a week. !

Lol calm down. It's basically lord of the flies. Read some actual books instead of Japanese porn mags sometime.

Finished season 3 of Cobra Kai. It was a bit wobbly in parts, and some of its dramatic punches missed the mark, but I enjoyed it!

I spent all day today binging it. I enjoyed it quite a bit, especially how they fleshed out some of the characters' backstory.

Cobra Kai has no reason to be as good as it is. I was worried season 3 might be too much after how 2 ended but this is the best one yet. This show is on the level of the Wire or Arrested Development. It honestly accomplishes what it attempts near perfectly.

The only part that made no sense was the auto dealership shit.   10/10.

I’m just wondering how much longer they can keep this up. I didn’t think the concept would be good enough for 1 entire season before I watched it and yet I’m surprised how they’ve managed to deliver consistently. I’d say go out on top with maybe another season or 2 if they have the story for it. As amazing as the wire was, season 5 showed that the series had completely run out of gas and brings the show down a slight bit.

the cg with the panther and the whole water/bus scene. just looked very 90's

yeah the FX aren’t great, but the show doesn’t really have to use them that often. The 2nd half is easier on the eyes overall.
