IMO Sony is doing so well in first party sales - Lack of season passes

Recommended Posts

How many times does some AAA budget SP game get announced with a $30 season pass? All the time.

God of War - Zero DLC. Nothing at all even with its insane sales.

Detroit - No DLC. They're working on the next game

Spiderman - This is getting some DLC but nothing offensive as pre order with $30 season pass.

SOTC - Self explanatory.

Uncharted 4 - No SP DLC. Full single player release later of Lost Legacy.

Ratchet and Clank - No DLC/Expansion

Gravity Rush - No DLC/Expansion.

Only major one was Horizon that broke the trend.

It's also a huge factor in the Yakuza team's appeal, they never bother with bullshit DLC. They are super efficient at making full games.

Having a season pass doesn't mean the game sold terribly :cosby2:

BOTW had a season Pass - game sold over 10 million

Oddessy had some DLC - game sold over 12 million.

MK8 had DLC - game sold over 11 million

Splatoon 2 had a season pass - game sold over 7 million.

Are you seriously comparing a Nintendo system to a Playstation system in terms of first party software importance?

Also it's merely ONE of the factors.

All those games I listed are full games complete games, even if a user doesn't purchase DLC.

First party software on Playstation is also very important.  Its what distinguishes it from Xbox.    If it wasn't for Sony's first party software.... what would make it unique when compared to Xbox1?
