Xbox1 - only "around 41 million" sold WW.

Hard Figures reported by MS (MS used to report actual data for 360) and Sony themselves and hard figures from NPD, GFK and Famitsu are not debatable :|

360 destroyed PS3 in the US.. but lost the rest of the world by such a huge margin that PS3 ended up winning the WW figures.

This is a farce, not that it can't be true but that it can't be proven. People have been over this for years, the data stops with them at a million+ unit spread with the 360 in the lead and then everything went silent or into merged figures on both sides.

No one but Sony and Microsoft actually know the final unit tally, no one. You can speculate all day everyday but you can't say one or the other won, it's unknowable. As far as we're concerned they finished even.

Everytime you say that it's evident you have no idea how POS tracking works :mj:

I know exactly how it works and there's nothing even from PoS data that can back that up, the relevant data doesn't exist.

Sheep, it's all they do. Do you see us making threads like this? They instigate sales wars and arguing about it, it's the only thing they have in life. While the rest of us are waiting to go pick up or install Resident Evil 2 this is the sheep life.

Bro..............you care greatly about Xbox sales figures.

All it would ever take is for you to admit you were wrong about any of the endless things you have been wrong about and nearly everyone will stop going on and on about it. But you always take the other route and double down and in doing so just say more things that end up being wrong.

You can't even take the L for predicting switch to come last and it not only came first but broke all records doing so. Same with Smash. The only reason this goes on and on is because you continually refute the facts for your made up assumptions. You are literally arguing against your earlier source :drake:

I maintained that it's higher, I never really accepted his other number. When he said 35 million later in February Goober and I were arguing about the 360 and Xbox One just previously falling behind it, I asserted it had to be at 37-38 million at the time Zhuge gave his figure. Guess what happened? Four months later in June a report released from IHS surrounding their market analysis in late March, their report asserted it was at 39.1 million. So you can see why we're butting heads, For end of 2017 I said it had to be at 37-38 million because the 360 was at 39 million at the same point in its life to which the Xbox One had just previously fallen behind it outside the US, 3 1/2 months on or so one of the largest analyst firms release a finding of 39.1 million.

Why did I say 43-45 million? Because even I'm low balling it, because 43 would support an 8+ million unit gain (which seems to be around the usual annual sales for Xbox One) on Zhuge's 35 million figure (8,750,000 per year x 4 = 35 million) and an 8+ million gain on IHS's figure if you account for Zhuge's number being low. Zhuge's new number asserts the system only sold 6 million this year, that's completely ridiculous and would mean it sold even less than that last year which is equally ridiculous, it did sell less but into the 5 million range? Ugh yeah.... No. His numbers are off, IHS's numbers make sense, his do not.

The most satisfying part is how Dynocrap spent SO MUCH TIME, and SO MUCH EFFORT trying to come up with projections about how it has to be way over 40 million.

Nah............I'm was pretty much dead on with the Xbox barely making it to 40 million.

Switch is gonna pass it by August, and I'm giving a conservative estimate on that one.

yeah, it didn't matter what games MS brought out, they could have all been bangers. No one cared after the reveal, the console was marked for death.

my point is, those deals were the only good thing about xbox one. it was a good console for the first 2-3 years when it was getting real exclusives. The next xbox won't be getting the same support out of the gate that the One did this gen.

It's going to get WORSE.

When it was getting exclusives?

Ryse, Dud rising, killer instinct, recore, gears etc etc all 7 or below flops.

Sunset overdrive, halo 5, hardly setting the world on fire at 8.0.

It never had exclusives worth a damn, that was its whole problem. Now it has none at all aside from Snorza :D and even thats now on PC.

I mean yeah PS4 sucked for exclusives too the first few years aside from Bloodborne but at leaat it had best multiplats and a lot of japanese games the XB1 wasn't getting.

Microsofts problems started late last gen, and ne and Aza tried to warn everyone but they wouldnt listen.

DOA, Ninja Gaiden, Fable, Bioware RPGs, Good Rare games etc all these just disappeared and were never replaced.

From 2009 onwards it felt like microsoft expected gamers to be happy with HALOGEARSFORZA, 30 day exclusive CoD map packs and nothing else as they dedicated the rest of their time to chasing that Wii audiencr with kinnect.

LOL at the sheep circle jerk over Xbox One selling 41 million units. That's 3 times Wii U's lifetime sales btw.

Seriously who cares as long as Xbox is still getting most of  the major 3rd party games.

Wii U also has more exclusives in two years of existence than the XBox One has in 6.

We might as well count it to 7.

Lol you fucking missed my point. This thread is mocking Xbox One sales but that's not affecting them getting the major 3rd party games so who cares?  Sales don't affect the number of first party games(exclusives), the platform holder is gonna support it no matter what unless it is a total flop like the Vita where sinking more money into it no longer make sense.

If you're a third party, why not throw them the multiplat if you are already developing for PS4 and PC?

That's not exactly an accomplishment.

If it were, you'd see closer to a 50/50 split in sales between PS4 and Xbox hardware.

And multiplats these days aren't exactly filling up people's Top 10 games lists.

Honestly? Because the disparity in games really only comes out of Japan's 'indie' and AA market, Xbox basically gets everything else including nearly all AAA level Japanese games. That is the hole in Xbox's third party equation, the AA Japanese market. The reason you're not seeing a more 50/50 split is because that 2013 shit basically solidified their position, it hasn't changed and they've made big efforts against it. When they had good games it didn't lean in and when they didn't it didn't lean out, it's been pretty consistent in it's 1:2 ratio throughout regardless of what's happening.

What games are people talking about the most and anticipating?

  • Ace Combat 7
  • Resident Evil 2
  • Kingdom Hearts III
  • Devil May Cry V
  • Far Cry: New Dawn
  • Metro Exodus
  • Anthem

etc. All multiplats.

So this thread is now about sales or exclusives?

Never said it's a huge accomplishment or anything but getting major 3rd party games released on your platform is crucial.  It's something Switch is still unable to achieve with all that record breaking sales.

Yeah the Xbox One could definitely do better with their exclusives. But that has little to do with sales, the platform holder is still gonna release their games on their platform no matter what.

  • Anthem

etc. All multiplats.

I'd venture that the games sold proportionately the same compared to its userbase.

Therefore a multiple EA game sells to about 15% of the PS4's userbase, and then 15% of XBO userbase.

What is the differentiator that started making people buy the PS4? Exclusives.

Which console is selling as crazy as the PS4? The Switch, which also has exclusives.

  • AC7 won't make anybody's Top 10 list
  • Kingdom Hearts 3 looks like its going to be a middle-AA reviewed game, that means it will be on the low-end of a Top 10 list.
  • RE2 is fan-service.
  • Far Cry????????????? LOL, after Far Cry 5, you think a RUSHED Far Cry game using the same map is going to be a critical darling? That isn't going to win anything, or barely make anybody's Top 10
  • Anthem???? Trust Bioware and EA at your own peril.
  • DMC5 and Metro are the only ones that have any decent potential. And Metro games are known for being shallow in terms of gameplay, those games aren't usually remembered at the end of the year, no matter how pretty they always look.
  • DMC5???????? Little too early to have faith. At the end of the day, its not being made by Hideki Kamiya.

Now let's compare them to the currently known 2019 exclusives:

Last of Us 2, already a leading contender

Bayonetta 3, the franchise that is overseen by Hideki Kamiya

Ghosts of Tsushima,

Metroid Prime 4

Genuine mainline Pokemon game with significantly overhauled graphics, it will be huge

If you are arguing that quality exclusives sell consoles then yes I agree, of course it does duh. But I would say getting major 3rd party games releasing on your platform is far more important. They make up 95% of the game releases and not having a major 3rd party game on your platform gives the other console an automatic "console exclusive". Its the reason PS1 and PS2 trounces their competition despite not having stellar 1st party, 90% of 3rd party games were exclusive to Sony at that time!

As for Nintendo Switch, you have to take into account that they are combining their handheld(which they have always been successful) and console market for the 1st time in history.  It's also true that people buys a Nintendo console for Nintendo games, so 1st party exclusives are definitely more important in Nintendo's case. The 2018 NPD TOP 10 Switch software sales are all Nintendo if I'm not wrong.

This is why the "exclusives" argument collapses on itself empirically, it's a bonafide fact of observation this gen. Do you remember the first 3 years of the the PS4? Yeah well so do I, it wasn't great and the system rode almost entirely on indie games and multiplatform performance, Sony leaned heavily on both. Guess what happened when it started getting hit after hit with exclusive games in 2017 onward? It sold 2 million more than the previous year, and what happened in 2018 while it was still getting hit after hit with things like GoW and Spiderman absolutely crushing? It fell back to near where it was prior to 2017. There's no rhyme or reason to these system sales and exclusives don't seem to do really anything, that jump in 2015, 2016 and 2017 could be entirely attributed to the systems price reduction and the Pro launch.

  • 4 million in 2013
  • 14.4 million in 2014
  • 17.4 million in 2015 (price reduced to $349.99)
  • 17.5 million in 2016 (end of 2016 price reduction to $299 + introduction of the Pro)
  • 20 million in 2017
  • 18.3 million in 2018

There's literally nothing that displays exclusive games have in any way moved the needle for this console. It's never been about that, it's all perception, it's mindshare, it's price reductions. That's all it's ever been about.

P.S. The Wii U is another glaring example of exclusives doing nothing, its exclusive games were great and yet it didn't sell. It's MINDSHARE & PERCEPTION.
