Regarding the mortality rate of this new virus... is the number of deaths relative to the number of reported cases in countries outside of China a similar ratio?

What's the mortality rate of the virus outside of China?

China's reported death ratio of 3.4% is higher than Korea's 1%, Italy's 0.34%, Japan's 0.06% and Singapore's 0 deaths so far.

Iran has an abnormally high mortality rate though - 16 deaths out of 95 reported case so 16.8%.

China would have to be due to higher concentration to people, but also this was a situation in which they were trying to cover this up. So this could've led to people not getting adequate treatment or response time because all they did was just quarantine them in a space and not treat them.

China's statistics may be completely useless because you just can't trust them. I read that the US may be having to use their spies within China to try and get as much information about what is happening on the ground floor.

I heard that this could have an R Naught of 3 to 5. Meaning that every one person would statistically infect 3 to 5 people. That has the potential to spread fast is it does break out in the open.

just a little perspective

Nearly 1.25 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day. An additional 20-50 million are injured or disabled. More than half of all road traffic deaths occur among young adults ages 15-44.

so far all the deaths from coronavirus combined haven't equaled a single day of car crash deaths.

So they should wait for it to be a full on outbreak and epidemic before thet warn people to be cautious and that it can possibly spread quickly? :grimaceleft:

Comparing a virus to car crashes is beyond retarded.

I don't think we can really know that, because the most accurate sample size would be from China, and we can't trust their reporting on how many people become infected in the first place because they're almost certainly lying.

14% of recovered coronavirus patients in China's Guangdong tested positive again

(CAIXIN GLOBAL) - About 14 per cent of patients who recovered from the novel coronavirus and were discharged from hospitals in southern China's Guangdong province were tested positive again in later check-ups, according to the local health authority.

A positive test suggests the recovered patients may still carry the virus, adding complexity to efforts to control the outbreak.

There is no clear conclusion on why it happens and whether such patients could still be infectious, said Song Tie, deputy director of the Guangdong Centre of Disease Control And Prevention (Guangdong CDC), at a Tuesday (Feb 25) briefing.

According to the preliminary assessment, experts believed the patients are still recovering from lung infections and have yet to be fully healthy, according to Song.

According to the latest treatment guidelines for the Covid-19 issued by the National Health Commission, patients can be considered recovered and released from hospital when their throat or nose swabs show up negative in two consecutive tests, with a CT scan indicating no lung lesions, and when they have no obvious symptoms such as fever.

The guidelines suggest recovered patients should monitor their health and limit outdoor activities for two weeks after leaving the hospital, and check in for retesting in following weeks.

Some patients' test results returned to positive in the follow-up checks, said Li Yueping, director of the intensive care unit at Guangzhou No.8 People's Hospital at the briefing.

This is probably why it can spread effectively. You could get the virus, suffer through it, recover, but still be a carrier for the virus after all of that has happened.

You don't get sick again, but you are carrying the virus and can pass it along to others.

This might be the most significant measure a country has taken yet,  Japan is closing ALL of their schools for an entire month because of the virus.

It's just a flu bro more people die from car accidents bro!!111 :lemming:

Retards still trying to minimize this :mickey:  Whole towns and cities don't get quarantined when the flu season breaks out :D

It might not cause the same amount of deaths as the common flu when this will be all over but the aftermath of all these lockdowns and quarantine measures will definitely have a big impact globally.
