No, I am judging two companies who have made subscription models a primary part of their business.

Because you are failing notice that Sony would be plainly aware that their focus on selling retail games would affect their streaming business. PSnow only exist on fringes compared to what Sony is really trying to sell you, and putting most of their promotional effort trying to sell you: retail games and physical hardware.

That's not the case. Disney+ most directly correlates with GamePass. In everything but the subscription numbers, anyway. LOL

Ah, so you're saying Sony created PSNow with no intention of increasing it's subscriber base?

That is at odds with their future plans presentation where streaming is set to become a big part of their business

Sony will be making Streaming a primary business for themselves as well...  PSNow's growth has been absolutely terrible compared to GamePass and lmao Disney+

Definitely isn't reflected in their promotion. It almost seems like a secondary business that they can run to in case their primary business no longer seems successful.

Like other companies we've been seeing.

Its no question that traditional game console and video game retail sales model IS the primary business, todays quarterly earnings results leave no question about that.

So no...............I'm sure Sony is fine with PSnow, because they're ecstatic with their primary business.

GamePass on the otherhand............appears like Microsoft is having to call in reinforcements because its stalling.

.........again.

Yea, I agree... Sony have done a terrible job with growing it... hence why it's even more embarrassing.

It'd be terrible if it were their primary business.

No, it isn't more embarrassing that your SECONDARY business got blown out by Disney+

If your PRIMARY subscription business got blown out by Disney+ that is, subjectively, more embarrassing.

Yea, it's pretty terrible even as a secondary business.  Kinda like how it is for MS at the moment.  Gamepass is a growth sector... it could someday become their primary business... but it's not even close to that at the moment.

So Sony having PSNow on the market longer with far less subs, is quite embarrassing... as far as secondary markets go.  You're the one comparing movie services to game services... which is funny in itself.

It's ok though... Sony will be following in Microsoft's footsteps soon enough... because they can't just allow MS to have the streaming market to themselves.

So yeah..........Disney+ blowing out your PRIMARY business really is more embarassing.

Which is what I was getting at.

Gamepass isn't Xbox's primary business.

So if it's embarrassing for Xbox it's more embarrassing for Sony and PSNow.

It definitely is Xbox's primary business........especially after that press conference, its clear that they are promoting GamePass as their main thing.

So............no, its more embarrassing for Xbox that Disney+ completely blew them out.

It's not their primary business, not even close to it. That however doesn't mean they're not putting massive efforts behind it to one day make it a huge driver of business for them.

It's an alternative revenue stream, the difference is the way in which they've managed theirs thus far as compared to Sony has had dramatically different results in terms of success.

Nah bro, it became obvious watching this recent press conference, even game journos wrote articles about it.

Xbox's primary objective: GamePass, GamePass, GamePass.

Eventual objective =/= primary business..

it pretty much is.

every single decision involving their games, is based around GamePass.

Xbox games releasing day and date on PC? = because of GamePass

Halo Inifnite being gimped? = because of GamePass

xCloud apparently not being a good-enough standalone service to charge money from consumers? = send it to GamePass

Crappy first and second party game that appear small in scope? = designed for GamePass.

Its their primary business.
