So Microsoft just entered the Apple/Epic dispute...

Recommended Posts

So from what I’m reading, Apples block will stop UE from being updated? And nearly all MS games are using UE? :D Apple getting swift justice on Sweeney’s bitch move and completely destroying MS’ Xbox division at the same time???? :vince:

It must be amazing to read into things and understand the world as Ghostz does. It's like Sliders but you lose 10 IQ every time you jump.

Oh NO!  The entire catalog of Xbox games using UE on Apple products!!!!!  What will MS do??

dame, thanks for reminding me, i need to rewatch this. there was this one episode at a "beach" at night and then there was a cave and some worm monster and a bunch of people in cocoons

The filing came alongside a new declarationfrom Microsoft in support of Epic’s motion, emphasizing how disastrous it would be to revoke Epic’s access to Apple’s developer tools. Any developer using the engine would be unable to patch security flaws or fix bugs once the access was revoked, effectively halting support for a wide range of games including Microsoft’s Forza.

Have xCloud flop :kaz:

MS doesn't need to worry about Epics ability to support UE with Apple's SDKs for xCloud you fuckwit...  It's a streaming service.  All the game development takes place on their own hardware... :tom:

That would be exactly what Epic want to show.  Apple's ability to completely snuff out other companies ability to make money by doing petty shit that they don't like.

Tweeting support of Epic does not break Apple's TOS... so if they tried removing or not allowing xCloud as retribution for it... then there's a problem.  Epic's entire plan is to show how fragile the whole thing is.  Hopefully more companies come in to do this and join together to fuck Apple :juggle:

Ummm, no. Apples TOS are the same as Epics, Microsoft’s, etc. You can’t just open another store through Xbox live or EGS :D

you think Microsoft is going to allow EGS on XBox?????

fact is, epic AGREED to a contract and are now going back on it. They deserve FUCKED to hell

They aren't opening another store.  They are providing direct in app purchases which can only be used for their game and want to "pass those savings" on to their customers instead of charging more to pay Apple a fee they don't deserve.

And consoles aren't essential products which people use to conduct their business.  Phones should be open platforms like computer operating systems. Everyone should have the ability to open a store and compete.

Imagine if MS asked for 30% of everything that was put onto a Windows device :drake:

They take a cut out of sales on their own store :D this is common practice :D are you saying fortnite is “essential business”?!?!

no one is stopping epic from creating an open sourced phone OS.. except, well, they already take a cut out of everything sold in THEIR store :D

Yea, no shit... and remember when Epic was worried that they would try to funnel everything put on Windows through the Windows 10 store with UWP????

iOS should be an open platform.  Apple is free to have their own store... and others should be able to too.  If even that was what Epic was fighting for... but no.. instead they are simply fighting for the ability to sell in app purchases directly to their consumers.  Apple doesn't deserve 30% of shit.

And it's not about the fact that it's a game...  It's the fact that Phones are essential devices which are essentially a necessity these days.  Which means that as a platform they should no longer be closed boxes.  All companies should have the ability to do sell directly to their customers.  You should have the ability to use which carrier you want with whichever phone you want, right?  Same fucking thing applies here.  It's a general computing device...  It's too big of an industry to be closed off and completely at the whim of any one company.  And Apple certainly doesn't deserve 30% of every transaction made.

So if apple wants to make a game, throw it on EGS, and refuses to pay epic their royalty... do you support apple? You realize Epic has the EXACT type of policy in place? :D
